I get so many people coming to me because they’ve played it safe and gone neutral in their homes, and now it feels cold and sterile.

There’s this myth that neutral is boring and flat, and the only way out of it is by adding “pops of colour.” I’d encourage you NOT to add colour in “pop” form as an afterthought - but that’s a post for another day...🤪

If you’re naturally drawn to neutrals, we can add warmth and texture in other ways to soften your home and elevate it, so it feels finished and homely.

Rich materiality, layered textures, and curiosities collected across eras and trips away over a lifetime bring all the warmth and personality a space needs. Colour isn’t the only way to make a room feel alive.

The items in this post are all neutral, but collectively they bring so much personality and calm to a home. Don’t stress if colour isn’t your thing, but something still isn’t quite feeling finished - get in touch and we’ll bring it to life in a way that works for you.

Some beautiful changes are coming to a mid-century home in the western suburbs. My clients have an art collection that I can only dream of - and it’s been the perfect muse for our warm and rich soft furnishing selections.

Hand made will always be my first preference for decor. I often talk to people about why their spaces don’t feel styled the way they are picturing.

It’s usually because they’re too perfect! They’ve picked up a bunch of decor from the same store and it’s just not working.

Imperfection is actually what I aim for a lot of the time. It’s how we make a space feel warm, homely and yours. The goal should never be showroom perfection in my opinion.

If you’ve followed here a while you know my feelings on washable rugs and sofas🙅🏻‍♀️…. washable literally everything else though? Hell yes.

This ottoman is a hard working member of our family and it’s just had three days of wet dog and muddy toddler battering the life out of it. Love being able to whip the cover off and give it a wash. Love this gal so much I’m offering these covers to clients now. If you want a price, let me know your ottoman size in the DMs. X

Guys - I’m not great at communication and forgot to say from the beginning I’m trying to re-purpose the chaise bit from an old couch into an ottoman that suits my aesthetic. You get the drift. I’m waiting for my next daycare day to chop the fabric up and get started. This should be a fairly simple job but I’ll be honest, I haven’t used my sewing machine since the day before I gave birth to my first child. So let’s see how much sewing is muscle memory 💪🏻

Inspo pics from Pinterest of course!
