Freedom Built

Freedom Built Freedom Built is a custom home builder in Canberra specialising in knockdown rebuilds and design and construct. We are Healthy Home specialists.

We focus on early builder involvement, genuinely fixed-price contracts, and high-performance, energy-efficient homes built to last. Freedom Built is a Canberra-based custom home builder specialising in knockdown rebuilds and design and construct, owned and operated by Mark, a carpenter by trade with more than 16 years' experience under his belt. Born and bred in Canberra, we design and build homes tailored specifically to the climate and planning frameworks of the ACT. Sustainability is integrated directly into our construction methods. Our homes are built to a higher standard, using advanced insulation, airtightness, and vapour-permeable materials that allow the structure to breathe. This approach guards against internal condensation and mould, creating a dry, healthy internal living environment that also reduces running costs. Our process relies on early builder involvement. By designing to be built and building as designed, we stress-test every decision against budget, buildability, and performance before construction begins. This rigorous, highly detailed documentation is what allows us to offer a genuinely fixed-price contract with no hidden surprises. Because we deliberately limit the number of projects we take on at any one time, our clients stay close to Mark and a small, consistent team throughout the build, which keeps communication clear and the process transparent. Core Services:
- Custom Home Design & Construction
- Knockdown Rebuilds & Demolition
- Design & Construct
- Energy Efficiency & Healthy Home Building
- Renovations, Additions & Extensions

Fully licensed and operating across Canberra and the surrounding region. To discuss a project built to a higher structural and environmental standard, contact Mark and the team on 0485 009 120 or visit our website.

Ideal demolition weather, believe it or not.

Rain keeps the dust on the ground instead of over the fence, which is exactly what you want when a house is coming down in an established street.

Mark on how it all began.

Sixteen years as a carpenter, a business built alongside Maddie, and a standard that hasn't moved since the first job.

We don’t just build homes; we engineer high-performance living spaces designed for Canberra’s extreme climate.

From high-grade window glazing to superior insulation, we create homes that regulate temperature naturally. That means total year-round comfort without relying on high energy bills or constant artificial heating and air conditioning.

Supporting local matters to us 🖤

We salvaged hardwood off a recent build and donated it to , where it's now one of their bars.

Go and see it, the coffee is worth the trip on its own.

First look at our Downer project.

Considerable thought goes into the design of every home we build. Orientation, light, how the plan responds to the block it sits on.

Follow along to see this one come together.

The beauty of a well-designed home is in the journey through it.
