Girt by Trees

25/08/2026

For a bit over a month now i have been recording videos of birds around the house and putting them on youtube.

It's mostly house sparrows because they are everywhere eating the chook food and budgie seed, but I've managed to catch a few other birds on camera.
Red wattlebird, Grey butcherbird, Willie wagtail, Singing honeyeater, Crows, Magpie-larks...
All common around Kimba. 😃

Just videos of birds doing bird things.
No added commentary or music. 😁

This video is a bit of a highlights reel i put together.
The videos on the channel aren't this chopped together. 😅

If anyone is interested the channel is,

Here's a little video i took a few days ago.
Sound on if you want to hear 2 Major Mitchell's cockatoos calling to each other.

We have seen these 2 hanging around the paddock a few times these last couple of weeks. (assuming it is the same 2)

This is the closest i've seen them to the house though, the tree they are in is our profile picture

Bedroom finally got some attention.

Cracks filled, fresh paint (Taubmans Admiralty), aircon in, furniture moved in.

Mostly thanks to Lizzie doing the hard yards while I drank b**r and watched.

One less thing on the list.

Righto, we’ve been a bit slack on the posting front.
Things got hectic leading into xmas, and safe to say we haven’t quite nailed the habit of keeping this page updated yet.
So here’s a bit of a rundown of what’s been happening behind the scenes:

• Built the budgies an outdoor aviary so they can stretch their wings
• Had a crack at the overgrown paddock with domestic tools
• Picked up some older turtles and a few baby chickens
• Got a couple of aircons installed before summer hit
• Painted and moved into our bedroom
• Drove to Adelaide for a concert
• Hosted a big family xmas here at the place
• And planting… so much planting

We’ll break anything noteworthy down properly in upcoming posts with photos and a bit more detail.

Stay tuned
