You know that feeling when a room has all the right pieces and still feels slightly off? Most of the time it comes down to a few centimetres.
These are the numbers I check in almost every home I style:
✨ Curtains: make them one and a half times the width of your window. A 2 m window gets 3 m of curtain.
✨ Hang the rod as close to the ceiling as you can, not directly above the window frame. It draws the eye up and the room feels taller.
✨ Gallery walls: keep 5-10 cm between frames.
✨ Dining table: leave 60-90 cm on each side so chairs can pull out and people can stand up without a shuffle.
✨ Round table, round pendant: go about 30 cm smaller in diameter than the table.
✨ Rectangular table: choose a pendant around half the table’s length, two-thirds at most.
✨ Mirrors: keep them at least 20 percent smaller than the piece of furniture they hang above.
✨ Cushions: size your inserts up one size from the cover, so they hold their shape and never go flat.
Save this for your next styling day, and send it to the friend who is always rearranging her lounge room.
