The secret to a beautiful limewash finish starts before the brush even touches the wall.

Less product on the brush means more friction against the wall, helping create the distinctive texture and movement that makes limewash so unique.

With limewash, additional coats aren’t simply about making the colour darker.

The second coat adds opacity and a little more depth, while helping to build the tonal variation and movement characteristic of limewash.

The underlying surface and previous coat still influence the finished result, which is why limewash develops its character gradually rather than behaving like a conventional paint.

This white is the only way to make a room feel bright? Think again.

While crisp white walls have long been the go to choice, they’re not always the best option for creating a light, welcoming space.

Warm neutrals can often make a room feel brighter and more inviting because they reflect light in a softer, more natural way, without feeling stark or clinical.

Here’s what to consider:
-Warm whites & soft neutrals create a cosy, sunlit feel.
-Natural light has a huge impact on how any colour appears throughout the day.
-Your flooring and furnishings can make bright white feel either fresh or harsh.
-Limewash adds depth and movement, so your walls catch the light beautifully instead of looking flat.

The brightest room isn’t always the one with the whitest walls, it’s the one with the right balance of colour, texture and light.

Before the brush touches the wall, it all starts with the mix. 🤍

Achieving the right consistency is an important step in creating a smooth application and the soft, natural movement limewash is known for.

Take your time, mix thoroughly, and you’ll set yourself up for a beautiful finish from the very first brushstroke.

Have you ever noticed your limewash looks darker when you first apply it, then becomes softer and lighter as it dries?

That’s because the water in the limewash evaporates as it dries, leaving behind the mineral pigments and creating a softer, more muted finish.

This is completely normal with limewash, so don’t judge the final colour while the wall is still wet.

✨ Always allow your limewash to fully dry before deciding whether you need another coat.
