Mr Pinbologist Pinball Restorations Pinball machine repairs and restoration to most brands of machine. I do repairs and restoration to most brands of pinball machines. No job too big or small!

Set up in late 2011 from a hobby, with the intention of saving pinball games from ending up in landfill, and to bring them back from the dead. If you have an old pinball gathering dust and not working in your garage or shed etc, i can most likely save it!

Yet another game in for some TLC, a very tired 1978 Stern Nugent. I've done a few service calls on this particular game over the last four years or so, customer finally decided it was time to give it a good going over.. definitely needed and long overdue!!

Finally getting back onto Harlem Globetrotters, The MPU was sent off to Ken Shipley for refurbishing months ago, wiring hacks in the backbox corrected, power supply, solenoid driver and displays have all been refurbished and working as they should.

Onto the playfield; It has some BADLY worn areas and paint flaking off in places.. since it's only to be a simple clean/tidy up, After a LOT of thought the decision was made to clearcoat the unprotected areas to prevent further deterioration rather than try restoring it (I wasn't asked to restore the playfield anyway!) So with the playfield stripped, cleaned and wear sealed, it's looking a bit better now!

Quick service call in Harrington Saturday arvo, on my way to Forster.. one VERY nice looking Bally Eight Ball. It had a few light issues that were the main reason for the call, due to bad lamp sockets needing some repairs. Also had intermittent pop bumper operation requiring some switch adjustment/cleaning, and checked and retightened a few loose mech screws to finish up.. too bad they can't all be that easy!!

Spider apron DONE.. final decal in place and three coats of clear. Turned out not too bad at all!!

Gottlieb Spiderman apron restore progress; white and red resprayed, using a combination of masking and stenciling to recreate the shapes/stars etc. Because i only have pics from the internet to work from, it is NOT 100% accurate to original and as such, is as good as i can get it with what is available to me to use!

Starting now to add the missing text with waterslide decals, the whole lot will be clearcoated when done to lock in the work and blend everything together nicely, same as the previously done shooter gauge.

Nitro Groundshaker playfield; with the touchup /insert repairs done, top side assembly started. Posts ultrasonic cleaned, new rubbers in place, New bumper bodies and skirts, and new lane guides fitted. Also have new flipper bats to go on to replace the yellowed originals, they'll be fitted when the mechs are refurbished.

Centaur performed faultlessly at Newcastle Pinfest, never missed a beat all weekend... from Friday night set-up/testing all the way through to Sunday afternoon.. so I guess that means I did good!

The game also seemed to be popular and got a LOT of play (along with all the other sweet looking/playing games there of course)!!

Centaur DONE and Pinfest Ready!! The last couple of thigs done were a freshen up of the backbox insert panel (stripped and repainted), a few connectors replaced and fit the new lift channel to the backglass... now to get it loaded into the van with the other two games going to Pinfest!!

Service call this afternoon to complete repairs to this Bally Addams Family.. I looked ant this one and the Data East Star Trek a couple of weeks ago and ran out of time to complete the Addams family (had other work to get to that day). The fault was no display so I expected to be repairing the DMD driver (not the case this time). The DMD had random lines down the display, ended up working out there were no opto switches working in the game either! Further investigation revealed a blown fuse F116 (so no power to the opto's) and a bad bridge rectifier.. bridge wasn't shorted but seemed to be breaking down under load! Replacing the bridge and fuse, plus a leaking capacitor found, (C2 in the regulated 12v circuit) fixed both issues.
