Choosing paint gets much easier once you stop looking at the sample by itself.

Put it beside the flooring. Hold it near the cabinets. Look at it against the countertop, tile, and trim.

Those surrounding colours can bring out undertones you didn’t notice in the store; especially with whites, greys, and neutrals.

The goal is to choose a colour that works with the things you already love in the room.

Reception areas, waiting spaces, and office entrances are where clients and visitors first get a feel for the business. Fresh paint can make those spaces feel cleaner, brighter, and more current; especially if the current colours no longer, or never did, match your branding.

Fall is a great time to bring a little more warmth into the rooms you spend the most time in.

Think muted olive, warm taupe, deep brown, or a rich burgundy used in the right place. These colours can make a living room, bedroom, dining room, or even a set of built-ins feel more inviting as the days get shorter.

You don’t have to repaint the whole house to bring in a seasonal shift either. One room, one wall, or one painted detail can be enough to change the feel.

Interior don’t automatically have to be white.

A softer taupe can warm up a hallway. Deep green or charcoal can add contrast. A muted blue can bring a little personality into an otherwise neutral home.

It’s a detail you see every day, and changing the door colour can shift the feel of the room or hallway without repainting every wall.

Try your paint samples for more than an hour. I know you are excited to just get started but a colour can look completely different first thing in the morning, in afternoon sun, and again once the lamps come on at night.

We recommend leaving larger samples up for a few days and checking them at different times before making the final call.
