The month we dig up hundreds of Daliahs, work on putting the garden to rest, pick an abundance of tomatoes and enjoy the fall weather outside as much as possible while we have it š¤
The world changes so fast with social media, 4 years ago I was dreaming of making our land into a flower farm, starting it the following year and now (mind you I follow and watch for them) I see flower farms everywhere and it seemed so foreign to me just 5 years ago. This is our third year of harvesting, planting and working the land. This is our third year of sanitizing storing, dividing and planning to pre start Daliahs and we are thinking of doing something that is not so normal⦠doing much less of them next year.
They are divas and they are beautiful but they are an insane amount of work and we will plant them solely for florists, wedding work and pre made bouquets. This means less need to make sure U-Picks sanitize each time and less rows needed of each kind, and less time in spring and fall planting and digging them up.
We have started our share of hobbies and businesses and yet I am always surprised when each year I feel like Iāve grown to have so much more insight, that researching and studying it is not the only thing needed to learn.
I love our flower farm and I love that we can choose how to run it in a way that works best for our family, maybe one day we will have tripled the crop and be shipping all over the country or maybe one day we will be solely selling via a farm stand. We really can choose how we want to build it and I find that so beautiful. But at this point my biggest passion is designing with them. I hope to take on more wedding work and really build stunning arrangements for peopleās special days š¤
