First day of fall. One of these will look like this in
November too.
Body:
Today is the first day of autumn, which is also the exact
point in the year when a natural lawn starts losing the
argument. Thin patches don't recover. Bare spots under the
tree stay bare. Six weeks of raking, one last mow, then five
months of looking at it through the kitchen window.
The bottom half of this picture is a real backyard our crew
finished. It looks like that today. It will look like that in
November, in February under the snow, and in March when every
other yard on the street is mud.
Here's the part most people don't know: fall is the better
season to install. The ground is still workable, our schedule
opens up after the summer rush, and you go into winter with
the job already done — instead of spending five months
planning to fix it in the spring.
