Style This House Before you blame the sofa, call me. I’ve spent 25 years figuring out why rooms don’t quite work, and what to do about it. In-person + online.

Interior design, styling, colour & home staging for real homes and real life.

Your living room may not be too small. It may just be working too hard.

Before shopping for smaller furniture, look at the walking space, the size of your coffee table and whether your seating actually fits the room.

A room should be comfortable to live in, not an obstacle course with throw pillows.

What bothers you most about your living room: the layout, the furniture or the lack of space?

Your home should feel good to come home to. Not give you another to-do list.

That's why I wrote "A Home That Lets You Breathe" a practical guide to creating a home that feels right for the life you're living now.

November 2 is launch day!

Stay tuned. I'd love to share this next chapter with you.

If you have to move three things before you can put down your coffee, we’ve gone too far.

I love a beautifully styled coffee table. But it still needs to work for real life.

Your home should look good, feel good, and leave room for the people who live in it.

Beautiful is good. Livable is better.

A beautiful home is lovely to look at. But does it work for the life you're living today?

Sometimes we don't need new furniture, a renovation, or another trip to the home store. We just need to look at our homes a little differently.

That's one of the ideas behind my new book, A Home That Lets You Breathe, launching November 2.

What matters more to you: how your home looks or how it feels to live in?

You don’t always need to buy something new to transform a room.

For this bedroom, we shopped the rest of the house! Bedding, cushions, a throw, and artwork from other rooms came together to create a softer, more finished look.

Same walls. Same headboard. A fresh new feel, using what was already there.

Shop your home before you shop the stores.

There comes a point in life when the home that once worked perfectly for you… doesn't quite fit anymore.

The kids have left. Your routines have changed. Perhaps you're downsizing, starting over, or simply looking around and wondering why your home feels more overwhelming than comforting.

And somehow, you're supposed to know what to do about it all.

Here's something I've come to believe: your home should support the life you're living NOW, not the life you lived 15 years ago.

I've been working on something very close to my heart, and I'm excited to share it with you.

Something for anyone who wants their home to feel lighter, calmer, and more like themselves again.

More soon.

Follow along. I have something special to share this week.

At some point, your dining table quietly accepted a second job. Mail. Purse. Laptop. Amazon box. Something that needs to go upstairs.

Then someone says, “We should eat at the table more.”

As a designer, I wouldn't start by styling the table. I'd figure out why everything keeps landing there.

Sometimes a decorating problem is actually a where-does-this-live problem.

I have a weakness for a good “before.”

Not because I enjoy seeing bad rooms.

Because a before tells me what the house was trying to say before someone started fixing everything.

Sometimes the answer is obvious.

Sometimes it's one surprisingly simple change.

And sometimes the room was never the problem in the first place.

Your guest room does not need to look like a hotel.

It needs a decent place to sleep, somewhere to put a suitcase, a lamp that can actually be reached from the bed and enough room to walk around without performing an obstacle course.

Hospitality is about comfort.

Not matching bedside tables.

One of my favourite design questions is: “What do you actually use this room for?”

Not what the room was labelled when you bought the house.

Not what a furniture catalogue says it should be.

What do you do in there?

Because sometimes the room isn't failing.

It's just been given the wrong job.
