Fall is here and I have been enjoying the beautiful weather and walks with this gorgeous boy.

I’m really enjoying how this planting combo just keeps going and going.

Hawthorn, a tree for wildlife, scraggy and beautiful

Our tree’s first bumper year! Year 7, worth the wait. Extra special when you can send the kids to pick the tree 🍎

🐝 Warm heart to know the bees have somewhere to find food at this time of year, it’s the last push for honey storage 🍯

And I’m thinking this may be a native bee? Correct me if I’m wrong! We have so many cool bees visiting our garden. I love to watch them 🐝

Toad lily find at the Oak Bay library, love their little garden walkway

Beautiful Fuchsias at Matticks Farm. Also love their gardens! There were hummingbirds all over these beauties

Evening beach walks with 🦮 and hubs

New trails, getting in all the steps 🐾

The first asters are here! How much do I love waiting until NOW, the end of summer, for these beauties to arrive with comforting petals that say, don’t worry, it’s not winter yet. Such a wonderful gift to have more flowers as we send our kids back to school with a collective sigh 🫶 🐝Well I can’t forget to mention that my native asters (rockstars that they are on zero water) have been blooming for weeks, so really they win, yes they do.

The September garden is going strong with roses still budding up and the salvia pulling its weight in spades! Deadhead, don’t prune! and she will continue to bloom for pretty much forever. And the sedum, ok the Hylotelesomethingorother (damn those Latin name changers, you really like to mess with us!) is sooo close the honey bees are already here digging their little heads into the almost open blooms. Cute to watch. Just rescued one from a spider web, sorry spidey you can eat something else.

Do you ever just look around and think, I live here?! Eric and I recently discovered a new trail down the road from our house which leads to this stunning view + more trails that are rarely used. We haven’t tried heading down to the water from this spot yet but that’s next on the list. And this is after living in our neighborhood for 8 years! We truly are so lucky and grateful to live on this beautiful WILD island that has the best of both city and nature.

We were just leaving the view spot when we saw two (baby?) Turkey vultures hunkered down on the rock. We were wanted to give them space but Cedar 🦮 couldn’t manage the steep rock face so we had to circle around and pass closely by them. This caused them to take flight and this is what I captured in this video. What I didn’t get is how low to the ground they were flying just over our heads and in front of us, and they were very curious about Cedar! It felt like our very own raptor show!

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how I want to show up here. I’ve struggled with the direction this platform has taken and my relationship with it, but I also find so much joy in connection so I keep coming back.

Since the beginning, this account has been about my journey as a landscape designer — sharing gardens, projects, ideas, and the things I’ve been creating as a student and professionally. But life shifts, circumstances change, and I’m in a season of shifting with it.

Right now, I’m taking some space from client work and giving myself room to explore what’s next. I’m designing my own home and garden, getting stronger physically and mentally, following the things that spark my curiosity, and making more space for creativity in all its forms. And most importantly, spending time with my family.

I want this space to reflect more of that. So you’ll probably see me showing up a little differently here — still with plenty of gardens and plants, because that part of me isn’t going anywhere, but also with more of the things I’m noticing, trying, learning, creating, and enjoying along the way.

I don’t have a perfectly mapped-out destination, and I actually think that’s part of what feels exciting about this chapter. I am flexing my surrender muscles, practicing letting go.

I’d love for this page to feel like a place to share the complete journey. And if you’re in a season of change or curiosity yourself, maybe we can figure some of it out together. 💚
