GANDIA BLASCO GROUP LOS ANGELES
Design Without Borders: travel, culture and collaboration | PDC Fall Market
On September 23rd, we were delighted to host a special gathering on design and culture at our Los Angeles flagship in the Pacific Design Center. We had the chance of chatting with celebrated designers Cesar Giraldo and Andrea Michaelson, in a panel moderated by Jennifer Convy, CEO of Women in Luxury Design. A special thank you to California Homes magazine for sponsoring the event.
Travel and experience are among the greatest sources of inspiration for a creative practice. They expand our knowledge of architecture, history, storytelling, culture, materials, and the rich layers of meaning that can transform a beautiful space into a truly memorable one.
For designers working with well-traveled and multinational clients—or those looking to attract them—developing a global perspective is increasingly important. At the same time, understanding the unique character of where we live is just as essential. In Los Angeles, for example, exploring the city’s architecture, history, landscape, climate, and cultural stories can profoundly influence how we approach the design of a home. From the beach to the mountains, Los Angeles encompasses an extraordinary variety of environments and microclimates, each offering its own opportunities for thoughtful and distinctive design.
There is also tremendous value in building relationships with exceptional international brands in furniture, furnishings, materials, and outdoor design. Bringing these global resources together with talented local makers creates a richer, more authentic design language—one that feels both connected to place and informed by the wider world.
