What's the smoothest drawer you've ever closed? 😄

It sounds like a silly question, but it tells you a lot about a kitchen. Soft, quiet and solid beats loose and rattly every time, and it's a big part of why we work with Häcker, a German kitchen maker.

What's the one thing your kitchen needs to make baking easier? 🍰

Ours would be a clear bit of worktop beside the oven, because hot trays need somewhere to land. A deep drawer for tins and a socket right where the mixer lives come a close second.

It's funny how the smallest details make the biggest difference once the oven's on.

Can you spot where the washing machine is hiding? 👀

Take a look at the tall units in this kitchen. Behind those doors sits a built in utility larder with the washing machine and tumble dryer stacked inside, so the laundry stays out of sight.

There's plenty more tucked away too. A Le Mans corner unit pulls out to bring a tricky corner to you, the drawers light up inside, and the plinth gives off a soft glow at floor level. The Scala Eucalyptus island is on heavy duty wheels, so it shifts to suit whatever's going on, and it's currently pulling double duty as a coffee station.

Small detail, bigger impact than you'd think 🤔

Cabinet handles tend to get picked right at the end, almost as an afterthought once the bigger choices are made. But they're the part of a kitchen you physically touch the most, every single day.

Get the size, shape and finish right and you won't think about them again. Get it wrong and you'll notice every single time you open a drawer.
