I was back in a garden yesterday giving it a bit of TLC when I seem to have unearthed an ant trail carry some garden debris 🐜🐜🐜 🍁🍂

Which got me thinking… just how strong ARE ants?

💪 Here’s your Friday fact:

An ant can carry around 10–50 times its own body weight, depending on the species! 😲

To put that into perspective, if I could lift 50 times my body weight, I’d be picking up the equivalent of 4 large bulls 🐂 😳

🌧️ The weather might be turning, but the van’s still busy! 🚐

With the grim weather setting in, it’s a good time to switch the focus to another side of my services at Vandiman: transportation and man-and-van jobs!

This week so far, I’ve been:

🛋️ Moving a sofa to its new home.

🌿 Transporting a patio garden set (here’s hoping the customer gets to enjoy it at least once more this year! 😂)

📦 Clearing out a few unused items from a customers flat before he plans a move

🐾🎂 Today, Vandiman’s Head of Security celebrates her 8th birthday! 🥳

Eight years of keeping the sofa warm, demanding treats, supervising absolutely nothing and looking cute enough to get away with murder. 😂

And apparently, in dog years, she’s now older than me! 😳🤣

Still, she doesn’t look a day over seven… and she’s certainly not showing any signs of slowing down when there’s food involved! 🐶❤️

Friday’s job was all about giving 28 fence panels a fresh new look in a lovely cedar red. The before and after photos speak for themselves! 🎨👌

But there was one other resident who nearly got caught up in the makeover… 🐶😂

Let’s just say he was almost a red setter on departure! 🤣🐾

Don’t worry, no dogs were painted in the making of this post! 😂

🌿 Back at a regular customer’s this week, following on from refreshing their fence with a lovely shade of green a few weeks ago.

This time, the attention turned to an unused border that needed a bit of TLC! 🌱

✅ W**ds stripped out
✅ W**d membrane laid
✅ Fresh white gravel topping
✅ Planters tidied up and ready for some planting of their own

A much cleaner, tidier finish and another little corner of the garden looking great again! 👌

It’s always nice to return to a regular customer and keep their garden looking its best.

🎶 “In the jungle, the mighty jungle…” 🌿🦁

Well, I got a bit of a shock this week when I was greeted by this little jungle! 😳🌿

One of this week’s jobs was a BIG garden clearance, tackling a seriously overgrown space and uncovering the patio that had been hiding underneath all that greenery! 💪

As you can see from the before and after photos, it’s amazing what a bit of hard work can uncover!

Yesterday I breathed a bit of life into an old shed with a few repairs and a couple of licks of paint. 🎨

To be fair, it had been standing there a few years… but not quite as long as today’s Friday Fact! 😂

🇯🇵 Did you know? Hōryū-ji temple in Japan contains some of the oldest surviving wooden buildings in the world, dating back over 1,400 years! 😲

Now that’s what you call standing the test of time 🕰️

Whilst your shed is unlikely to last that long, sometimes a little TLC is all it takes to give it a new lease of life.
