Feeling a little more chilly in the mornings 🥶

A couple of visits today…..we went to the lovely Paul & Jayne’s first for a 3hr slot to go through the front garden borders and back borders…..cleared some if the mass of leaves they get backing on to a wood also for the last 15mins of the slot.
Lots of w**ds coming back now we are getting more rain…..all types of sorrel and spurge and bittercress to clear….also tidied w**ds from along the house and neighbouring fence line.
I’ve advised them using mulch in the borders, it will really help to suppress the w**ds and in some cases unused borders can even have a sheet over it and block sunlight until they decide de what they would like to do with them.

We then went to the really friendly Emmet and Natalie’s garden to do our 2hr maintenance slot……again plenty of w**ds to clear……aired and cut back few things also……looking really nice, they do suffer from a mossy lawn but being a rented property and having no outdoor tap this is more of a luxury but next year I will try and improve it slightly for them with lawn seed I have if we get a wet March/april and give it a go for them

To the wonderful Lynnes today to dismantle the very throughly built work stations in her greenhouse and dismantle the greenhouse ready for a new one to replace it!
There was Enough time to plant 40 iris bulbs too for her.

Always plenty to do so I shall see her next week!

Well a very sunny day today!! 🌞

I am visiting the lovely Steve and Alex to do my fortnightly visit in the gardens

A general clean up and maintenance of plants, snipping/deadheading, w**ding, grass cut and edges, bulb planting also and light hedge trim at the front.

The evergreen rose has just kept on giving this year! It’s flowered superbly multiple times this year.
All the roses have been doing well this year…..salvias planted are another thing that has been thriving, Gaura and some dahlias also doing very well…..an issue with 2 dahlias that I tried in the right border but it was a chance given how shady that border can get….tubers are fine so I cut them down and encourage new growth……I will be cutting all dahlias back after the first frost and we can either pot and keep inside or try mount of mulch and pot over it to deal with the winter…..with rodents straw will not be used to do this as that would be a 5 star hotel for mice/voles who in kind nibble the dahlia…mesh over them would be a consideration if leaving in borders.

The rhododendron and hydrangea that were struggling from the summer heat and lack of water feeding have come back to life and shooting lovely green leaves since giving them both some tlc.
Lemon trees in pot looking really good since helping revive them from number of issues….be time to go back in the greenhouse now.

Hardy fuchsia’s in the front garden have been doing grand too! And I love what they did in the ivy!!!! 👀…… 😂 getting into the Halloween spirit!

The grass with a hose pipe ban is not worth looking into yet….we can wait til next year, the moss that’s died in the lawn will come back so we can look at options if anything at all later on when hose pipes for regular watering is allowed.

A trip to the lovely June’s today for a 3hr visit.

We had a bit of a clean up in and around the greenhouse, moved her compost bin in the green house for over winter….had a good clear of greenhouse removing w**ds mainly sorrel and emptying the numerous pots DGW had and put it in some easy to manage order.
June sadly lost her Husband Steve this year who liked to use the greenhouse so was nice to see it in a manageable and reusable state.
We had a good tidy of the patio area which had a lot of unused/half filled pots and lots of trays of zonal geraniums. We put the zonal geraniums along the greenhouse sat on the wall which will also be a manageable height for June when it comes removing them being off the floor.
Weeded the patio area and kept on top of a once very w**dy/lots of bindw**d border which just needs perseverance……the top of the garden we lawn seeded 2 weeks ago is coming along well! It was a worry as it was very stoney and w**dy the soil….we are seeing w**ds again but grass is showing!!
Also cleared what was left from w**d kill along her footpath towards the greenhouse. I also w**ded her long footpath from side door to back gate.

Overall a lot got done for June today and it is coming along nicely since meeting June 3 slots ago. It was all very overgrown but stage by stage we are getting this garden back in line.

Thank you to June for her custom and support but mainly for her fun humour conversations and a big thank you for a generous fund for River (my sons) birthday for Thursday 😊…..so kind.
I will see her again in a fortnight

I have some before and after pics of greenhouse (before pics at the end of pictures)……got carried away and cracked on before taking pictures of all but you can always looks at all posts of Junes garden in my timeline and see the changes.

To my first ever customers…….the lovely Ted & Marilyn & the wonderful Shirley’s gardens today.

A very wet day 🌧️ but there was work to get done!

Front and back gardens as always…….lawn cuts/edging/w**ding/deadheading and bulb planting today as well as a general tidy.

Ted & Marilyn’s Dahlia we planted from bulb producing a lot of buds! Taken well there, we will need to cut that back after it blackens in the first frost and either keep indoors ideally or put a good 6” mound of mulch on top to keep away from the winter freeze.
The aster planted last week is doing well to replace a never leaved/flowered blue blossom. We had allium and crocus bulbs with that too so look forward to see how we do next year.
Their heather coming along nice too and showing off there pink!
The golden celebration rose is starting to prepare for dormancy so just be a case of letting it be and picking up the fallen leaves and get a fresh layer of mulch on top.

Shirley’s roses are still going! Her ‘my birthday’ rose producing some lovely flowers, grown a lot….i think we will get a frame around this after pruning next year.
The white tea rose came back strong also after a good cut back…….
Also in the back garden the roses doing well after a good snip and the hardy fuchsia going strong, a lot benefitting. From the rain and looking very luscious.
Cut back her crocosmia and also planted a load of daffodil bulbs amongst the front gardens.

As always a great pleasure to help these 3 who are such lovely people 😊
I shall see them again in a fortnight

A trip to my favourite close last Saturday!

All general work on borders, dug up some rhododendrons, lots of leaves to clear and lots of w**ds to clear in the bloc paving…….always looks so pretty when done! Must be lovely to see and be around!

Next visit in 1 month for a major tidy before winter.

Thsnk you to all the residents of the close who are just really lovely people! Never short of a drink or food offer! 😊

What a lovely day today! 🌞

Working at Martyn and Ben’s garden today……we are going through sections but by bit and today we tackled the part of the side border and the deep back border today!
Lots of brambles/ivy/w**ds/tree shoots and grass to get up so Martyn and Ben can get these borders covered over winter.
The garden front and back is coming along very nice and vast improvement to when I first visited! They have clearly been doing some work too adding to the borders and mulching.

They were both happy and I am glad they are! I find it very rewarding to see improvements in the garden.

Will see them again I’m sure when they are ready! 😊……thank you to them both for the lovely coffees!

Still more to do, we can refine some edging and a back corner clear to go still.

It was a visit to Nigel and Sue’s gorgeous garden today!

Lots of mulch had been laid after the big w**ding clearing of borders! (Well done Sue!) looking a lot neater now and hopefully will suppress the w**ds and give some good nutrients.

We worked at the bottom half of the garden today w**ding more borders and patio areas.

Lots to like and you can see the work they put into there garden/s.

Some pics of the mulched borders and some before and after pics too!

A 2hr Visit to Nigel, Sue, Nathalie, Sarah and Sam’s shared garden today! Some sunflowers got the chop today as it was time to go🌻…..browning and dropping flowers and stems…..some flower heads were left for the seeds if they wish to scatter again……a lot of deadheading to do, some w**ding and general clean up.

We then went to see Emmet & Natalie for their 2hr visit just to keep the front and back maintained! More w**ding then anything and patio clearing…..the wood sorrel they like in the patio so is left…..there was some cutting back also.
Their hydrangeas have come back with green leaves which is nice now we have had some rain.

Both looking well! Will return again in a fortnight to both!

A trip to my partner in crime Lynnes today!!

Lots of different tasks today……trimmed the long Yew hedging that was a bit wild…..we cut this right back and down last year as there was a lot of lateral branches and it was woody and bare in places….it seemed to do the trick as it is much fuller now and far less bumpy on top….a lot more level.
We planted today inc clematis in pots and fuchsia in borders and also w**ded inc removing some borage invading the herb border.
Clean up of the patio too 😊
Lawn was seeded last week we left a side to access up and down but walked carefully when cutting the yew.

I will see Lynne in a fortnight! Thanks for tea but bars and the great company Lynne!
