A good carpet finish starts before the carpet goes down.
One thing that can easily be overlooked during a renovation is the preparation of the skirting boards.
As you can see in the image, gaps between the wall, skirting and floor, along with misaligned timber, can cause problems later. These imperfections may not be obvious at first, but they can affect the final finish once the carpet is fitted.
So, what should you check before installation?
Make sure the skirting boards are properly aligned, securely fixed and that any gaps or uneven areas have been addressed. It’s much easier to sort these issues before the new carpet goes in than to deal with them afterwards.
At Trim & Tuck, we take pride in the carpet fitting itself, but the preparation beforehand matters too. If you're a homeowner or builder planning new flooring, it's worth checking that everything is ready before installation day.
A little preparation can save a lot of hassle later.
