It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of The Little Greene Paint Company both in terms of their colour range and the quality of their paints.

Last week they launched a new range of 26 colours which I was excited to explore. I popped into their shop in Chelsea and picked up a few sample pots and these are my top 3 choices right now:

1. Rome
2. Parlour
3. Hillside

I’ve been thinking about where my love of period homes comes from since they are the opposite of the house I grew up in!

Let’s chat if you’ve got a period home that needs some TLC but you don’t know quite where to start. I can help you to make it beautiful! (DM or follow the link in my profile)

Why do you love period homes?

Did you end up with grey interiors by accident? My clients did.

Their living room has ended up grey which is why they’ve got me in to help them bring personality and colour back.

Has this happened to you?

Paint colour is usually the first thing people think about when styling a room. It should be one of the last.

Before I even open a paint chart with an interior design client, I ask about light, original features, what’s staying put, how they want the room to feel, and what else you can see from that room in the house.

It’s likely that if you skip these questions you’ll find yourself wanting to repaint in six months’ time.

I’ve written a blog post on this and why each question matters specifically for Victorian homes.

I go into lots of homes with dark hallways and landings, especially Victorian or Edwardian properties.

Here are three ways to bring in more light:

1. Paint the woodwork a bold colour - spindles, door frames, skirting

2. Keep the walls light to contrast against the dark joinery

3. Add an aspidistra - the Victorian "cast iron plant" that thrived in dark hallways

Want the paint colours I actually use, plus a 4th tip specific to period homes? Free download, link in bio.

Design Spark interior design service transformed my client’s living room (⬅️ to see before)

Design Spark bridges the gap between a video consultation and spenny full service design.

I visit you to discuss and survey your home, listen to what you need and then produce a bespoke design pack giving you everything required to instruct trades and make the transformation happen.

The overwhelm and decision fatigue is taken away from you because I do the time-consuming research so that you can focus on living well. Your design pack contains moodboards, colour schemes, fabrics, furniture choices and layout plans.

Comment ‘Design Spark’ below and I’ll DM you a sample pack of some recent projects.

How can I be an interior designer with Ikea furniture?

I have some Ikea furniture in my home because I’m an interior designer not a millionaire. And Ikea have some great pieces which, when layered with other products work really well and look great.

Here are a few of my hot picks after a trip there last week.

What are your favourite Ikea pieces?
