Darker evenings change how your kitchen feels.

As the clocks go back, you spend more time in your kitchen under artificial light. Colours that looked fresh in July can feel cold and flat by November.

For a fully fitted kitchen, most people spend:

£8,000 to £12,000 for a smaller kitchen, same layout
£12,000 to £18,000 for better units and worktops
£18,000 to £25,000 for high-end finishes and quartz or stone worktops
£25,000 and up for bespoke kitchens or knocking walls through

The biggest difference between quotes is usually labour. Some leave out the electrician, plumber, plasterer or tiler, and those costs turn up later.
