Hawksley bungalows were prefabricated homes built in the UK after WWII to address the housing shortage. Manufactured by A.E Hawksley, they featured aluminium or steel frames, influenced by the company’s aircraft production expertise. Designed for quick assembly with modern amenities, they were meant to be temporary but often remained in use for decades due to their durability.
The cladding was removed to enable a full structural survey and pull out testing, ensuring that this non traditional bungalow was suitable for the cage system.
Before installation of the system, the old membrane was removed, the existing insulation was replaced where it had failed and a new breathable membrane was installed.
100mm has now been fixed to the timber frame of this property, improving the heat retention and also bolstering the strength of the construction
Structherm basecoat will be trowel applied in 2 coats before a final 1.5mm silicone finish is applied.
