2023 : young mountain maple seedlings

2025 : put in metal sheet by cutting round holes.

2026: I have waited for the trunks to thicken start cutting into metal sheet. I will now cover it with substrate to generate fine roots where they are cutting in.
After the fines starting to fuse, I will remove the original roots below metal. I will also remove 4 sacrificial outside trunks, those are to contribute in creating exaggerated “pancake root structure”

Then place it on board(great ebihara technique will follow )

A recent post by Ken Fujiwara-san caught my attention. Not only because of his beautifully crafted bonsai design, but also because of the scissors ✂️ that I’ve been recommending for years.

During my many learning trips to Japan, I noticed that these scissors were a favourite among professionals and enthusiasts alike, especially for working on pines, junipers, and smaller bonsai. They offer excellent functionality, are comfortable to use, and represent fantastic value for money.
