What happens when an insulated wall needs to support more than just insulation?

Thermal performance is essential, but so is making sure a wall can accommodate the practical demands of everyday use.

This is where Warmotech Phonotherm (RG550) comes into its own.

This high-strength structural insulation board provides a stable base for secure fixings while helping to minimise thermal bridging.

Commonly used around windows, doors and other critical building junctions, its versatility extends to applications you might not immediately think of.

In this project, Warmotech Phonotherm was incorporated into a Gutex Thermoroom internally insulated wall to provide a robust fixing point for heavy wall lights.

Discover the EcoCocon Straw Wall Panel System through hands-on training.

Join us for an in-person training session offering a unique opportunity to explore the EcoCocon Straw Wall Panel System through a combination of technical knowledge and hands-on experience.

Combining technical knowledge with practical experience, this training provides the opportunity to explore the principles of vapour-open construction, understand the design and installation of EcoCocon straw wall panels, and gain first-hand experience assembling the system.

Led by experienced industry professionals, the session offers 4.5 CPD points and valuable insight into the use of natural materials in high-performance buildings.

In new-build projects airtightness targets are set early on, but actually achieving them depends on what happens throughout construction. That means having a clear plan for how the airtightness strategy will be implemented and checked on site.

Some important considerations include:

🔹 Who is responsible for installing and checking the airtightness measures at each stage?
🔹 Are the necessary seals and connections completed before they become concealed by subsequent works?
🔹 Do the different trades understand how their work could affect the airtightness layer?
🔹 Are critical details inspected and photographed before they're covered up?
🔹 Is an interim airtightness test planned while defects can still be identified and rectified without extensive remedial work?

These are practical decisions that need to be made before work begins and followed through as the project progresses.
A final airtightness test provides an important measure of performance, but it shouldn't be the first opportunity to discover that something has gone wrong.

We're proud to support the publication of Ireland Architecture 250+ Buildings since 1990, a remarkable project by architect Seán Antóin Ó Muirí, documenting over three decades of architecture across Ireland.

The result of 15 years of research and dedication, the book brings together some of the country's most significant buildings and the architects behind them. It's a remarkable achievement and a fitting celebration of Ireland's architectural landscape over the past 35 years.

Seán will be celebrating the publication with a special launch in Cork on Friday, 6th November, and everyone is welcome to attend.

The evening will feature a talk by writer and playwright Cónal Creedon, along with a drinks reception and traditional music.

Another recognition for the team at this year's Architects’ Choice Awards! 🎉

Our Low Carbon Solutions in Action roadshow received a Commendation in the Best Services Provider category, recognising an initiative that brought practical learning and technical knowledge to building professionals across seven locations in Ireland.

The roadshow featured demonstration structures incorporating natural materials and timber frame construction, designed for disassembly and reuse at each event to support circularity.

In this short video, Niall Crosson reflects on the commendation and acknowledges the work of Technical Manager Joe and our technical team in delivering the roadshow.

What a way to wrap up Architecture & Building Expo 2026! 🏆

It's been a fantastic two days at the RDS, and we're heading home with plenty to celebrate!

From catching up with familiar faces and meeting new ones to discussing projects and demonstrating our new System Calculator, it's been a busy and rewarding couple of days for the team.

And to top it all off, we're incredibly proud to have received three recognitions at this year's Architects' Choice Awards:

⭐ Commended – Low Carbon Solutions in Action Roadshow
⭐ Highly Commended – redstone Pura Core

These awards mean a great deal to our team and reflect the hard work, knowledge and dedication that go into everything we do. To see three very different areas of our work recognised makes the occasion even more special.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand over the two days, to the judging panel and, of course, to our brilliant team who made it all happen.
