Had another lovely day volunteering with APDO at the Home, Life & You show at ExCeL today! 🩷

This time I was helping out on the stand, chatting to visitors and answering enquiries, as well as getting the chance to explore the show.

The day started with me meeting a few lovely ladies on the way there who were just as lost as I was! Somehow we ended up navigating our way together and even created a WhatsApp group so we can meet up again! 😊

It’s been such a brilliant opportunity to learn how other professional organisers work, pick up business tips and meet some genuinely inspiring people.

A few other highlights included a free KIND goodie bag and clothes spray, catching Deborah Meaden talking about reusing, meeting the podcast host of What Aren’t We Talking About? and, top of the list for me, listening to APDO President Sian from Sorted talking about living in a neurodivergent home. 🩷

I’m coming away with lots of ideas, new connections and even more enthusiasm for what I do!

Now on my way home for a very well-earned early night! 😴

Proud to have volunteered with APDO yesterday, helping to set up the stand for Home, Life & You at ExCeL! 🩷

Assembling new furniture, learning how to stick paper balloons up so they don’t fall down (yep, that green one was an escapee! 😂), steaming the fabric banner and arranging the gorgeously soft blanket on the sofa are just some of my newly discovered talents! 😊

It was great fun working alongside other professional organisers, some newer to APDO like me, as well as the President of APDO.

I also enjoyed getting to know some of the other exhibitors, including one wonderfully chaotic lady who arrived just 20 minutes before the doors closed! 😂

I’m looking forward to heading back on Sunday — browsing the show in the morning, picking up more knowledge from some inspiring talks, spending the afternoon on the APDO stand and helping dismantle it all afterwards.

What a lovely opportunity to learn, connect and be part of such a supportive professional community! 🩷

You may have seen me raving about APDO recently! 💚

Earlier this year, I joined APDO — the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers.

But what does that actually mean, and why does it matter?

For me, joining APDO was an important step in building Making Space with Chloe Jane into a professional, trustworthy business.

Being a member means:

✅ Professional standards – I agree to follow APDO’s Code of Ethics, including respecting confidentiality, working honestly and professionally, and recognising the limits of my own knowledge and experience.

✅ Peace of mind – APDO requires members to have appropriate insurance and be registered with HMRC. It’s an extra reassurance that you’re inviting someone into your home who takes their work seriously.

✅ Ongoing learning – I’ve already completed several APDO training courses, including Effective Listening and Paperwork, and I’m continuing to develop my knowledge and skills.

✅ Professional support – I’m part of a wonderful community of organisers who share ideas, knowledge and experience, supporting each other to provide the best possible service.

Because professional organising is about so much more than making things look tidy.

It’s about listening, understanding people’s individual challenges and finding practical solutions that make everyday life easier.

I’m particularly passionate about creating manageable systems that work for people in real life, including those with ADHD, autism or who simply feel overwhelmed by their homes.

My aim is always to offer practical, compassionate and completely judgement-free support, helping people make changes at their own pace.

I’m proud to be part of APDO and excited to keep learning as Making Space with Chloe Jane grows. 💚

Feeling grateful after yesterday’s lovely three-hour session 💛

We worked together on a little boy’s bedroom, involving him in decisions and giving him little tasks along the way. He even made me this lovely thank-you and took this photo of me 🥰

Together we:
🌿 Cleared two beds and made more floor space
🌿 Sorted lots of toys into categories, using existing drawers and boxes
🌿 Made a space for games and puzzles
🌿 Separated items for donation and decided where they would go

There are lots of small decisions behind changes like these, and we worked through them in a way that felt right for this family.

The Blob Tree pictured shows how Mum felt before and after our session—a lovely reminder that making space can change how we feel too.

Thank you for welcoming me into your home again and allowing me to share a little of our session 💛

Hi, I’m Chloe—the person behind Making Space with Chloe Jane 💛

I help people in and around Benfleet create calmer, more manageable homes, with kind, practical and judgement-free support.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by clutter, have a room you don’t know where to start with, or are facing a move or clearing a family home, you don’t have to tackle it alone.

I can help with:
• Decluttering and organising
• Home Reset Sessions
• Downsizing and home transitions
• Compassionate house clearances

We work together at your pace, deciding what matters to you and finding simple ways to make everyday life easier. You stay in control of what stays and what goes.

My training and lived experience within a neurodivergent family shape my understanding that different homes—and different brains—need different approaches.

Progress, not perfection 💛

If you’d like some advice or a chat about how I could help, please feel free to message me. You don’t need to tidy up first!

Professional home organiser Chloe helps you declutter, make space, create practical systems and support lasting change for a calmer, easier-to-manage home.

Had a lovely morning with STRM - SEND the Right Message Registered Charity at their Benfleet office, talking about one of my favourite subjects 😍

It was so nice to meet some lovely new faces and chat about clutter, overwhelm and finding practical organising ideas that work with your brain—not against it.

I hope everyone went home feeling a little more inspired and with a few useful tricks up their sleeves!

If any of today’s conversations struck a chord and you feel you could use some support at home, you’re always welcome to send me a message. You don’t need to tidy first or know where to start 😊

ADULTING.
Not glamorous. Not aesthetic. Just tiny routines that stop life unravelling 😅

For Mental Health Week, I’ve been thinking a lot about how much calmer I feel when I have simple structure in place.

Not strict schedules.
Not perfection.
Just small routines that reduce overwhelm.

So I’m trying something called “bookending”:
☀️ 20 minutes in the morning for admin, messages and planning
🌙 20 minutes in the evening to reset and prep for tomorrow

Some people call routines boring.
I call it adulting 😆

As someone with ADHD/autism, I’ve realised routines aren’t about being rigid — they’re about protecting my energy and reducing decision fatigue.

And honestly? A calmer home helps too.

That’s why Benfleet Home Reset isn’t just about decluttering and organising spaces… it’s also about creating simple systems and routines you can actually stick to 💛
