“Kalispéra Thessaloniki!” — In Leipzig, the city of Bach and Mendelssohn, this year’s Leipzig Opera Ball dedicated a special evening to Thessaloniki. More than 3,000 guests discovered our city through its culture, music and gastronomy, in a warm welcome and a significant opportunity to showcase Thessaloniki on the international stage.
The event marked the highlight of the Greek delegation’s presence in Leipzig, as part of the Municipality of Thessaloniki’s Destination Thessaloniki initiative, with the participation and support of the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization (TTO) and the city’s tourism stakeholders. Through meetings and networking with professionals from the German tourism market, we highlighted Thessaloniki’s potential as a destination for culture, gastronomy, MICE tourism and city breaks, aiming to establish long-term partnerships and increase visitor numbers throughout the year.
Thessaloniki is reaching out to the world, showcasing its unique identity and strengthening its international presence through meaningful partnerships.
With a clear strategy, synergies and consistency, we are building the Thessaloniki of the future: a dynamic, competitive and internationaly recognized destination. 🩷. My warmest thanks to Leipzig Mayor Burkhard Jung for his warm welcome and generous hospitality and my heartfelt thanks to the wonderful soprano Solen Mainguené for her outstanding presence and artistry.
