A warm foundation for lifelong learning. Designed by Atelier ARBO, CHALK Montessori School in Sanpada, Navi Mumbai, is a 1,500 sq. ft. space thoughtfully crafted around Montessori principles. Low-height furniture, integrated open storage, and a natural palette of wood and soft pastels encourage independence, order, and sensory exploration. Every zone—from practical life to quiet reading—is flooded with natural light, creating a calm, eco-conscious environment where young minds can thrive.

A library designed for curiosity, discovery, and the simple joy of getting lost in a good book.

With expansive bookshelves, stepped reading platforms, and inviting corners to settle into, this library transforms learning into an experience that feels both engaging and effortless. The thoughtfully planned layout encourages students to explore at their own pace, while the interplay of open spaces, warm colours, and playful seating creates an environment that feels as inspiring as the stories it holds.

At Atelier ARBO, we love designing spaces that become an integral part of how children learn, interact, and grow. Libraries, in particular, hold a special place in our work for the possibilities they offer beyond the classroom.

Designed around the idea that children learn not only from what they are taught, but also from the spaces they inhabit. CHALK Montessori School in Sanpada transforms a compact 1,500 sq.ft. footprint into a thoughtful environment for curiosity, independence and interaction.

Warm timber surfaces, natural materials, indoor greenery and abundant daylight create a comfortable visual language, while open shelving and clearly defined activity zones keep learning resources within reach. Flexible classroom arrangements allow the environment to adapt throughout the day, making the school feel less like an institution and more like a space made for young minds to explore.

A learning environment designed to feel warm, open and naturally engaging. The 1,500 sq.ft. CHALK Montessori School in Sanpada brings together natural timber, soft neutrals, daylight and greenery to move away from the conventional institutional character of a school.

Every element is considered from a child’s perspective from accessible storage and child-scaled furniture to flexible learning zones that encourage independent exploration, collaboration and creative activity. The result is a calm, connected environment where the space itself becomes part of the learning experience.

A Montessori Inspired Creche space for Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. The space is designed for free play, relaxation, learning and enjoyment. The space has been envisioned as a warm, engaging and child-centred environment where children of different age groups can co-exist. The interiors are designed to provide a sense of scale, comfort and belonging for young children, with carefully considered activity areas, accessible storage, tactile materials and opportunities for both active and quiet play. Each element is intended to encourage children to interact with their surroundings independently and develop confidence through everyday exploration.

Within the compact footprint, the design creates multiple experiences for different age groups — from imaginative and sensory play to reading, building, movement and creative activities. Spaces are kept visually connected while allowing children to find smaller corners for focused exploration and moments of calm. The emphasis is on creating a space where play becomes a means of learning and where the environment itself acts as a silent educator.

Therefore this creche has been conceived as something which is more than a childcare facility. It is a small learning landscape, designed to nurture curiosity, independence, imagination and social interaction within a compact 850 sq.ft. environment by Atelier ARBO, Bandra West, Mumbai
