President Donald Trump has tapped lawyer and conservative media personality Katie Zacharia to be the new face of the White House briefing room.
The October 9 announcement names Zacharia as the next White House press secretary, filling a role left vacant since Karoline Leavitt departed in August.
Taking to X to accept the position, Zacharia expressed her gratitude to the president. She called the job the “honor of a lifetime” as the U.S. nears its 250th anniversary and said she is eager to collaborate with the press corps to communicate the administration’s record to the public.
Trump expressed strong confidence in his new appointee, highlighting her loyalty to his Make America Great Again movement. He noted she is well-equipped to work effectively with journalists, the administration and the American people.
Before this appointment, Zacharia worked closely within Trump's orbit as a senior communications adviser for the Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social.
Her resume also includes a brief tenure at the Department of Homeland Security, where she worked as a spokesperson and deputy assistant secretary for public affairs. For many, she is already a familiar face due to her regular appearances on conservative networks like Fox News and Newsmax.
Zacharia steps into this highly visible spokesperson position at a crucial moment. With the November midterm elections fast approaching, control of Congress is on the line, making the administration's daily messaging a top priority.
