Final Medical Board exams preps- The mental battle

My final examination was indeed a battle.
For many reasons, this season meant so much to me. One of the biggest reasons was that I needed at least one distinction in the two courses I was taking to maintain my prestigious honours streak.
From my first year until that very moment, I had put in the work. I had given my best. And this final phase felt like a major deciding point in my journey.
But it was not easy.

The coursework was voluminous and almost never-ending. At some point, I even battled the fear of failing. To make things more challenging, I fell sick just a few days before my exams.
It was a lot.
But looking back now, I am grateful.

I may not have had a typical “perfect” ending, but I am grateful for how the entire journey has shaped me. It has built in me resilience, discipline, dedication, and a relentless spirit.
More than anything, it has formed a young man who is determined to take his place in the world, live for Christ, make impact, and contribute meaningfully to the field of medicine.

God indeed carried me through this journey.
And truly, it takes a community to raise a person. I am deeply grateful for my family, friends, mentors, teachers, and everyone God used to support me along the way.
I definitely would not have made it this far without the love, prayers, encouragement, and support I received.

Tomorrow, your boy will be inducted as a doctor with distinctions. 🎉
All glory to God.

I promise you all, falling — I mean, rising — in love was not part of my medical school plan. 😂
I came in with one major goal: focus on my academics, give my best, and graduate with excellent results.🫡🙂

But life happened.
And honestly, this has been one of the most beautiful parts of the journey.
It has not always been smooth, but it has been deeply worth it. Through the highs, the stressful seasons, the busy schedules, and the many demands of medical school, having someone to love, grow with, and share life with has been such a blessing.
This chapter has taught me that sometimes, some of God’s best gifts are not the ones we planned for.

Thank you, my love, for being part of this journey. ❤️
Here’s to love, growth, and everything beautiful ahead.

My Clinical School experience

The switch from premedical school to clinical school was sharp for me. Very sharp. 😂
Even after bagging 5 distinctions out of 8 in premedicals, the transition still felt like a completely different phase. 😂 😂
Clinical school came with a new level of responsibility, exposure, learning, and pressure. It was no longer just about passing exams. It was about gradually becoming the kind of doctor I had always dreamed of becoming.
Looking back, I am deeply grateful.

Grateful for the privilege of being trained by some of the best teachers.
Grateful for the relationships built along the way.
Grateful for the lessons, the stretching, and the growth.
And most importantly, grateful for the doctor this training has formed in me.
The journey continues.🥳🥳🥳

Some life changing things that happened to me on the journey 7.0-Taking my Step 1 exam

During my 21st birthday, I added one beautiful thing to my wishlist: sponsorship for my United States Medical Licensing Examination, Step 1.

At the time, it felt like an unrealistic birthday with. A part of me even felt like I was just whining myself. But I added it anyway.
I had already started preparing for the exam about a year before then. No funds in sight. No clear plan for how it would happen. Just a young man, his dreams, and a desire to keep moving forward.

But as my Pastor, , would say:
“Trust God for what you do not have the resources or ability to carry out. That is what faith is all about.”
So I did just that.
I trusted God.
And God came through. 💯🫡
I am deeply grateful to God for my sponsors, my parents, and everyone who contributed to making this possible. Their support was more than financial help. It was encouragement, belief, and a reminder that dreams are valid when God's grace and opportunity meets preparation.

I will probably talk about my trip to Ghana some other time.
For now, enjoy the pictures.
Pumped up for what is to come. ☺️
The journey continues.

Scientific Conferences attended/ 1st conference presentation

One of my favourite memories from medical school was attending conferences.
Aside from the cute meals that were usually served — not going to lie, I enjoyed those too 😂 — conferences were always beautiful opportunities to learn, connect, and be inspired.
From medical conferences to surgical conferences, I got to meet and interact with some of the brightest minds in the profession. Each experience reminded me that medicine is not just about the classroom or the hospital; it is also about continuous learning, collaboration, research, and exposure.

One particularly memorable conference gave me the opportunity to present the results of an antimicrobial stewardship research project carried out at LUTH.
That was my first conference presentation, and I had the privilege of doing it alongside one of my closest guys, .

Looking back, it was such a beautiful experience and an important milestone in my journey.
Cheers to many more conferences ahead, especially international ones.

Some life changing things that happened to me on the journey 6.0- STARTING A BUSINESS

I definitely cannot talk about my journey through medical school without talking about my business escapades. 😂

Sometime after my third year in medical school, I decided to start a commercial and residential painting business.

What was the motivation?
To make more money, become financially independent, and because I strongly believed God was leading me in that direction at that season of my life.
At the beginning, running the business alongside school was not too difficult. I found a way to make it work. But with time, I had to take a break.

That season taught me something important about balance.
Balance does not always mean carrying every responsibility with the same weight in every season. Sometimes, balance means knowing what deserves priority at a particular time and having the discipline to adjust accordingly.

I recognized that, in that season, my academics needed to take priority because my goal was not just to become a doctor, but to become an excellent one.

Over time, what started as a business brand gradually evolved into something bigger — a personal brand: DNA.
That brand has gone on to birth other expressions, including Sessions with DNA, an academic-themed platform focused on helping Nigerian students and doctors navigate schooling, career decisions, and major transitions such as emigration.

Looking back, it has been a wonderful journey of learning, building, pausing, evolving, and starting again.
And I know there is still a lot more ahead.
