🌿 BLUFF HILL PROJECT – STAGE THREE 🌿

Simplicity, Structure & Spectacular Views! 🌊☀️

Perched upon Napier's iconic Bluff Hill, this incredible property boasts some truly spectacular coastal views!

Having previously completed multiple stages of this landscape transformation, our latest challenge was to create an entrance that seamlessly complemented and embraced the existing landscape.

Our approach? Simplicity, consistency and a touch of boldness!

🔸 Corten Steel – Utilising the same weathering steel previously incorporated throughout the property, we introduced a terraced garden structure, creating depth, definition and a cohesive appearance.

🪨 Natural Limestone Boulder – A substantial limestone boulder was carefully positioned to create a sense of strength, character and boldness. This striking feature also complements the natural rockwork previously incorporated throughout the property.

🌱 Simplistic Planting – Carefully selected plants soften the structural elements while maintaining the clean, contemporary appearance.

🌿 Low-Maintenance Finish – Ground preparation, w**d matting and a generous application of mulch ensure the gardens remain practical and relatively low maintenance for years to come.

✨ The Result?

A bold yet simplistic entrance that feels like a natural continuation of the existing landscape, enhancing the property's character without competing with those incredible views!

🌿 FROM CONCEPT TO CREATION – THE LITTLE THINGS MATTER ✨

For us, a successful landscaping project is about more than simply following a plan — it’s about communication, collaboration and understanding exactly what our client wants to achieve.

Throughout every stage of a project, we maintain constant communication with our clients — discussing progress, confirming the finer details and making adjustments where required. Because ultimately, we’re not creating our space, we’re creating yours.

🌿 ESK VALLEY – SIMPLICITY & PRACTICALITY ✨

This client wanted to transform what was previously an awkward eyesore into a practical, productive and easy-to-maintain garden — somewhere flowers could not only be grown, but easily harvested, maintained and replaced as the seasons and their lifespans change.

To achieve this, we constructed a hard-wearing timber substructure, before backfilling the new garden beds with premium BioRich SuperSoil and finishing the surrounding areas with limestone.

The result is a simple, functional space that gives the client the flexibility to grow, harvest and rotate flowers throughout the seasons, while keeping ongoing maintenance to a minimum.

A relatively simple transformation, but one that demonstrates how practicality and simplicity can completely change an otherwise awkward space. 🌿

A huge thank you to Mark for once again trusting Grand Designs Landscaping to deliver another quality result — completed on time and within budget. 🙌

Puketitiri Project – From Concept to Creation ✨🌿


Progress continues... 🌱

Stage Three of this transformation is well underway.

This stage has included extensive site clearance, including the demolition and removal of disused water tanks and a dilapidated shed. As previously mentioned, a secondary entrance has now been constructed, along with additional off-street parking.

Once we had achieved a true "blank canvas", further discussions with the Smith family led to several exciting design refinements. The driveway will now continue around the home, creating improved access and functionality. By lowering the finished ground level, the proposed deck overlooking the pool will become a true feature of the property, while also providing the opportunity for a covered carport beneath.

As always, our objective is to ensure every stage builds upon the last—balancing practicality, aesthetics and long-term value while remaining sympathetic to the character of this incredible property.

We're excited to continue sharing the journey as the vision becomes reality.

The Nest – From Concept to Creation ✨🌿



This local kindergarten recently received a much-needed makeover, including general tree work and chipping, new limestone pathways, and fresh bark throughout the play areas.

What once felt like a forgotten and underutilised space has been transformed into a vibrant environment full of life, activity, and imagination—a place where the next generation can enjoy the outdoors and simply be Kiwi kids. 🌱

A special thank you to Ben and Vanessa for trusting Grand Designs Landscaping to bring your vision to life. It has been an absolute pleasure working with you both, and we're proud to have played a part in creating such an incredible space🙏✨
