Human-centered design at work in the proposed kitchen design for house renovation project.

What used to be a confining space that lacked enough storage and limited movement due to an existing wall enclosing the former kitchen, has now finally become light and airy with the adaptation of the open plan.
The main inspiration for this kitchen is the honesty and pragmatism of Japanese design and the subtle luxury of modern-day western influences - an "east-meets-west" moment on its own in a sense.

Sneak preview of the proposed design for the dining and kitchen areas -
The former kitchen area had been separated from the dining area by a wall and is accessible only through door. In this proposal, we entirely removed the said wall and fully embraced an open plan. The bar counter had been placed where the existing wall used to be.

View of U House from the left side -
As the house sits on a corner lot, there can be said that there are two facades or frontages. And for us, this presented more opportunities to reinforce the bold and yet gentle, straightforward and yet warm presence of the house. The key is to make sure that the two perpendicular frontages are in sync to a tee with one another.

Proposed exterior facelift for a house built in the 90s.
After a little more than two decades, the owners have finally decided that it was time to give their home a major upgrade to keep up with the times.
Always fascinated with their trips to Japan, this house was reimagined with zen influences in the use of key design elements such as the sun baffles, hammered stone finishes, an overall warm color scheme, and more.

Understated elegance in the toilet & bath will never not be underrated. We love creating spaces that exude quiet luxe in a warm and familiar manner.
The client requested that the existing bath tub be removed as they haven't used it for several years now and just takes up valuable space. In lieu of the bath tub, we have carefully placed an intimate lounging area instead where the client can pamper themselves, have a little chat with one another, or simply relax and admire the beauty of their newly renovated toilet and bath.
See last photo for a sneak peek of the existing site condition.
