🇷🇴 featured in the The Guardian: beyond the spooky castles: a family adventure in Romania’s mountains

Forget the vampire tales – the Eastern Carpathians deliver dramatic peaks, roaming bears and deep solitude

“Across the vast forests and mountains of Harghita County in central Romania, there are many places that nobody knows. In fact, the whole region has flown under the radar of international travellers – 85% of visitors come from Romania itself, which feels bizarre when you discover the wonders here, as we did on a 12-day family road trip, staying at self-catering lodges and cabins along the way.” - Graeme Green, The Guardian

Radisson Blu Hotel Sinaia Cota 1400 opened on 5 August, expanding the premium tourism offering in Romania’s Prahova Valley

The hotel features 68 rooms, a spa, dining venues and event facilities
Radisson Blu Hotel Sinaia Cota 1400 occupies a historic building dating back to 1939, which was once under the patronage of the Romanian Royal House. The property has been carefully restored and expanded, with a design that combines its heritage with contemporary comfort through the use of solid wood, natural stone, warm colours and refined details.

The hotel is approximately 7.8 kilometres from Peleș Castle, 10 kilometres from Știrbey Castle and 12 kilometres from the George Enescu Memorial House. Other interesting nearby attractions include Sinaia Casino, Sinaia Monastery and the Cota 2000 cable car. Guests can also access major natural landmarks on the Bucegi Plateau, including the Sphinx and Babele rock formations.

The Radisson Blu affiliation may also increase Sinaia’s international visibility and attract higher-spending visitors and event organisers.

The hotel’s opening as an important step in strengthening Romania’s position within the European premium tourism market.

Designed as an , Marketta Food Hall, positioned as the hall in EasternEurope, is signaling a major new step in the evolution of Romania’s urban food scene.

Set within the restored former Ford factory, the project aims to redefine how Bucharest engages with gastronomy, blending international concepts with strong local brands in a curated, experience-driven environment.

A curated mix of global and local concepts

Chef-led concepts also play a central role, bringing new culinary formats to the space. The offering spans a wide range of formats, from à la carte restaurants and quick-service concepts to dessert spots, specialty coffee, gourmet retail, and themed bars.
The food hall will also include niche concepts such as a dedicated lobster bar, a truffle-based gastronomy concept, Japanese-inspired sandwiches, and a rotating cheese bar, reflecting a broader shift toward experiential dining and specialization.

At its core will be The Central Bar, described as the largest central bar in Romania, intended to function as a social anchor for the entire space.
The project also integrates complementary experiences, including a speakeasy bar inspired by New York’s Prohibition era, a children’s entertainment area, and an artisanal flower shop.

“Marketta is a project that changes how Bucharest relates to gastronomy and urban experiences. It brings together strong brands, solid operational processes, and a unique historical setting” - Cătălin Gheorghe, CEO and founder of Tomcat Hospitality
