Before and after: the kitchen in a Pasir Ris HDB executive maisonette.
Before: chequered floor tiles, a patterned tile border and cabinets that had done their time. After: a kitchen split in two, with a light, glossy white run for storage and a dark stone-look feature wall for the cooking.
Under-cabinet lighting washes the splashback, a power track sits within reach of the hob, and the corner drawers open at an angle so the pots at the back are never lost. A bar counter with upholstered stools links the kitchen to the dining table.
Good kitchens are planned around how you cook, not how they photograph.
