I’m in Rose Park today!🔥

I got an opportunity to replace the roof of this awesome little house that’s getting a full interior and exterior renovation.

The majority of my projects are from but I’m a sucker for those shows and I’ll admit it’s kind of nice to just be able to replace a roof without the lengthy insurance battle!

However, with old homes come old roofing systems and this roof in particular had 2 layers of asphalt shingles which were stacked on top of the original wooden shake roof which means it gets brand new decking!

is getting some EXTRA love today!

There’s in and I’m going to find it!

Thorough 1st inspections are important because they will “impact” (hail pun) 😂 the remainder of the project not only for us but for our homeowners.

Here’s 3 key things to look for during 1st inspections that you should document extremely well.

#1 Damage to soft metals on the homes exterior

- Gutters & Downspouts, Fascia, Drip Edge, even the Electrical Boxes or HVAC condensers will have signs that hail was present.

#2 Damage to Rooftop Combustion Vents

- When performing a hail inspection, once I’m up on a roof the first thing I look for is the combustion vent because most of the time it’s a solid indicator for hail damage on the roof. Also, it is much easier to identify the presence of hail impacts on the thin metal that combustion vents are made of.

#3 Damage to the Roof

- Identifying hail impacts on the shingles can sometimes be a tricker skill to learn because it’s extremely important to be able to determine what’s hail and what’s normal wear and tear.

It’s important to understand that hail damage must be present on the roof itself but it’s just as important to identify damage to the soft metals and to the other parts of the homes exterior as well because it supports the fact that hail did in fact damage the roof and it increases the likeliness that our hail claim will be approved.
