Same room, same window, same square footage. But the end result is worlds away from where this room started. The difference is a color story that photographs well and a mirror placed where it actually returns light instead of just filling a wall. Would you go bold on a primary bedroom, or keep the pattern in the common spaces?

We set towels on the bed instead of hiding them in a closet, and it is one of the cheapest trust-builders in a short-term rental. Guests see them immediately and stop wondering where anything is. Where do you leave towels in your place, bed or bath?

The honest version: we sat on this business idea for a while before either of us said it out loud. One of us runs the numbers, one of us runs the guest experience, and it turned out that combination was the whole point. What's the thing you keep almost starting?

We put a working record player in this living room on purpose. Guests pick a record, sit down, and suddenly the space is part of the trip instead of just a place to sleep, and that shows up in the reviews. What is the one thing in your rental guests always photograph?

We added a geometric privacy screen to this back patio because the neighboring wall was close enough to kill the whole outdoor space. Open lattice instead of solid panels, so guests still get afternoon sun. The greenery in the planters is faux, which sounds like a shortcut until you remember nobody is stopping by to water it between turnovers. How are you all handling outdoor plants at your rentals?

Outdoor areas are some of the most underused space in a short-term rental. We gave this patio a weather-resistant rug, four real lounge chairs and a screen for privacy, all low maintenance between guests. Are you photographing your outdoor space, or skipping it in the listing?

It's not often we recommend renovations to start up a short-term rental. But the outdated kitchen in the before photo (swipe to the end) was doing no favors for anyone. So we made strategic revisions, swapped the vinyl for wood-look plank, and turned that awkward pass-through into a three-seat bar with real sightlines to the living room. The coffee station gets its own stretch of counter because that is the first thing a guest looks for at 7am. The result was a brighter, more inviting space for guests to feel at home. Hosts, what is the one kitchen upgrade that moved your reviews the most?

Lighting is the line item hosts cut first and regret later. We ran a rattan three-light over the peninsula for task lighting and used a sunburst flush mount in the open area because the ceiling height had no room for a pendant. What is the one upgrade in your rental that guests mention over and over?

We built this whole living room off one statement rug, then repeated its magenta, orange, and teal in small doses around the room so it feels connected instead of random. The green wall grounds all of it, which is the part most people skip when they go bold. Would you take the color risk in your rental, or does neutral still feel safer to you?

Every shelf, every art piece, every corner of Bright Side Books & W**e was placed with purpose. We design commercial spaces that guests walk into and immediately pull out their phones. What's one detail in your space that makes people stop and stare?
