Salt should not be the only flavor on your plate or in your cooking!

If the only seasoning you like is salt, then you need to refine your palate.

It's a supporting actor, not the star.

I said what I said.

Summer's coming to an end, but it’s still scorching hot here in Alabama. Here's an easy cucumber salad to help cool things down a bit.

1 English cucumber, thinly sliced
1 red or yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 pint of grape tomatoes, halved
1/2 cup jar banana peppers, chopped
1 cup lemon vinegarette dressing
4 oz crumbled feta cheese

Combine all ingredients except feta in a non metal bowl. Mix well. Top with feta cheese. Refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.

Tip: add olives if desired.

🍕 Grimaldi’s Pizza in Madison, AL🍕

Y’all… I think I may have found my new favorite pizza place. 😍🍕

From the moment you walk into Grimaldi’s, the atmosphere just feels right. Red checkered tablecloths, w**e bottle light fixtures, and black-and-white photos covering the walls give it that classic, old-school Italian pizzeria vibe. It’s cozy, lively, and exactly what I want when I’m sitting down for a pizza dinner.

And then there’s the food. 👏

I started with a peach sangria, and WOW. 🍑🍷 It was absolutely fantastic — fruity, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink!

We also ordered the small Caesar salad, which was surprisingly generous. It was easily enough for two people to share, and the fresh shaved Parmesan really took it up a notch.

But obviously… we came for the pizza. 🍕🔥

Grimaldi’s serves thin-crust New York-style coal brick oven pizza, and these are some serious slices. The pieces are cut nice and large and are absolutely perfect for folding in half — just like a proper New York slice should be.

Our first pizza was The Don, topped with sausage, meatballs, and pepperoni. When our server brought it to the table, he said, “We call it The Don because he always takes care of the table.” 😂 And honestly? The pizza lived up to the name.

Our second pizza was The Brooklyn Bridge, with sausage, red pepper, and ricotta. This one was SO good. The mozzarella is high quality and gives you that glorious, ridiculous cheese pull we all secretly hope for. 🧀😍

The sauce is absolutely perfect...Just the right amount with a hint of sweetness to cut the acidity, but not too sweet. 🍅

And the sausage deserves its own paragraph. It’s hand-pinched and has the perfect flavor — savory, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious.

Of course, we couldn't leave without sampling dessert. Because apparently we have no self-control. 😂

We tried the house-made tiramisu, cannoli, and Oreo cheesecake, and every single one was thoroughly enjoyed. There wasn't a loser in the bunch!

Overall, Grimaldi’s checked all the boxes for me — great atmosphere, fantastic service, quality ingredients, amazing pizza, and desserts worth saving room for.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🥓✨ INTERNATIONAL BACON DAY ✨🥓

Because apparently we needed an official excuse to eat bacon… as if we were waiting for permission.
Today, we honor that glorious little strip of pork that has the magical ability to make EVERYTHING better.

Eggs? Bacon. 🍳
Burgers? Bacon. 🍔
Mac & cheese? BACON. 🧀
Potatoes? You already know. 🥔
Salad? Throw bacon on it and suddenly we're pretending this is health food. 🥗😂

And let’s talk about the most important bacon debate:

🔥 CRISPY or CHEWY? 🔥

Personally, I believe bacon should be cooked according to the highly scientific method of “until it looks freaking delicious.” 😂

So go forth today and celebrate International Bacon Day properly.

Put bacon on something.
Put bacon in something.
Or, honestly… stand over the pan and eat it while telling everyone you're “taste testing.” 😏🥓

The Fork Whisperer approves this message. 🍴❤️

Now tell me: What’s the BEST thing you’ve ever put bacon on? 👇

🍖Happy Baby Back Ribs Day!🍖

Let's fire up the grill and get saucy and sassy! Grab the napkins cause we're digging in! No forks needed! 🔥

Tell me...do you prefer dry rub or sauced? Grilled or smoked? Just don't tell me you boil them first! 😱

Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to ribs, but no electric cauldrons allowed for this magic! ✨️

Make mine fall-off-the-bone tender! I don't care what the "experts" say about chew!

⭐️⭐️⭐️A Wonderful Anniversary Dinner at Chuck’s Fish⭐️⭐️⭐️

We celebrated our anniversary at Chuck’s Fish in Madison, AL, and had such a lovely evening! ❤️

From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt special. The restaurant has beautiful artwork throughout the space and some really unique chandeliers hanging from the ceiling that give it a fun, upscale feel. We were even given a sweet little anniversary note card, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the evening feel even more special.

We started with the red snapper throats, which were delicious and definitely something a little different. For dinner, we both had the bronzed swordfish with lobster risotto and broccolini, and it was absolutely delicious. We finished with crème brûlée and key lime pie for dessert—because anniversary calories don't count, right? 😂

For drinks, I had the spiked watermelon lemonade, while my husband enjoyed a Negroni and an Old Fashioned. A carafe of water was also provided. Everything was great.

One thing I really liked about Chuck’s Fish is the variety on the menu. Besides the seafood, they also have sushi, pizza, and even a 5-cheese burger, so there really seems to be something for everyone. We chose our meal from the chef's specials of the day.

Our server was wonderful—friendly, attentive, and quick to keep our drinks filled without being overbearing. That always makes a big difference in the overall experience.

The only downside for me was that the restaurant was a little loud, so I think it might be difficult to have a conversation with a larger group. A little noise is to be expected with an open floor plan. For the two of us, though, it was perfectly fine and didn't take away from our evening.

I really loved the large windows upfront that lit the restaurant until the sun went down. The restaurant becomes more dimly lit and intimate feeling when the sun sets. Each table had a small lamp that helped with reading the menu.

Overall, we had a fantastic anniversary dinner and really enjoyed our experience. The food, atmosphere, service, and thoughtful anniversary touch made it a night we'll remember. ❤️🥂

Definitely a place we'd come back to! I can’t wait to try their sushi.

They are only open for dinner and I do wish they had a lunch service.

So disappointed because I had heard good things!

We tried Jack's Wing Shack in Ardmore, AL tonight. We had a large take out order. I had to repeat my order 4 times over the phone before they got it correct. My husband was picking up so I gave him a list just in case. When you pay they ask for a tip, which would have been fine if their service had not been so terrible. We were told to pick up in 30 minutes. When my husband arrived he was told they didn't have our order and our food was not ready. When he got home we were missing food. I called and spoke to two people. The first gentleman asked what was missing and after I told him he said "huh" and passed the phone to a lady. I repeated what we were missing and she said she would make it if we wanted to come back. I said yes and thanked her. She hung up on me. No apology from either one. When my husband went back the same gentleman handed him the bag and wouldn't make eye contact. He just held his arm out with the bag. Again no apology at all. The food was mediocre. Boneless wings were small, over cooked and hard. The sauces barely had any flavor. The cajun ranch fries had no spice at all and didn't taste like ranch. Waste of time, money, and gas.

Overall 2 forks down.
