🏠 Crawlspace Inspection Spotlight: What We Found (and Why It Matters)
Our team was out today inspecting a crawlspace in the Pearl, MS area, and it's a great example of why regular crawlspace checkups matter — even when everything looks fine from inside the house.
What we found:
🔹 Moisture & humidity levels through the roof — Our meter read nearly 74% relative humidity down there. Anything consistently above 55% creates the perfect environment for mold, wood rot, and pests.
🔹 Active mold growth on the floor joists and support beams — you can see it in the white, fuzzy patches and dark staining throughout.
🔹 Rotted and deteriorating joists — years of trapped moisture had softened and weakened key structural wood, the kind of damage that only gets worse (and more expensive) the longer it sits.
🔹 Old, inadequate support posts — some sagging beams were only being held up by makeshift wood shims, not proper structural supports.
Our recommendation:
✅ Sistering and replacing the compromised joists to restore structural integrity
✅ Installing proper adjustable support jacks/piers to correctly carry the load
✅ Full encapsulation with a dehumidifier to control moisture long-term and stop this cycle from repeating
Crawlspaces are out of sight, out of mind — until they're not. Moisture problems down there don't just threaten your foundation; they can affect air quality and comfort throughout your whole home.
