Fīcan Ūcan I’m learning to flip furniture, while also learning this social media thing. In the world of AI, I’m sharing the human side of it all.

Come along as I learn, make mistakes, create some beautiful furniture, and show my work.

Take Time to Take 5. Worked today on the shots I took in Kenya last year, to prepare for print onto canvas. Nothing looks better with refinished furniture than being paired with a fabulous photo.

Former file cabinets, reimagined.

These started as huge wood lateral file cabinets, and it took more than one experiment to figure out what they wanted to become. I removed the hardware and components that made sense for office storage but not for their new life, then kept working until the proportions finally felt right.

The frames are a creamy blush, while the drawer fronts were paint washed and sanded back to let the wood show through. New hardware finished them off.

Sometimes it’s as simple as cleaning, sanding, and applying a protective finish. This teak bench came back to live another life after being slated for the landfill. Follow for progress videos on all my makeovers.

Follow up: I think I didn’t wipe back fast enough or as much as I needed to. So now, do I sand it back to bare and re-do drawers/top OR do I just full on paint them to match the frame? See current condition in comments.

I’m torn on these. So I asked chat to mock up the image. I’ll be working on these tomorrow so let me know which way to go!

Option A: Keep the warm natural wood drawers and top for contrast.
Option B: Give both the drawers AND the top a soft paint wash, letting the grain still show through.

The paint wash would make them lighter and more cohesive, but the natural wood gives them a little more character and contrast.

Which way would you go — A or B?

Same Piece. New Attitude. Follow to see progress posts—to see I’m real, the furniture is real. NOT AI.

This one went from tired and traditional to dark, dramatic, and a little unexpected. I kept the original character, but gave it a completely different personality with black stain, deep green trim, and those moody floral drawers.

The black stain lets the greens in the flowers shine while balancing out the moodiness of the floral pattern. I love that it feels feminine without becoming too sweet—and still has enough depth to feel substantial.

Sneak peak of a current project. Do I have a predictable style? Can you guess what I’ll be doing to this one?
