Instagram is saying it’s cool to only post one photo again which is a relief because there’s 1000 things going on just this one photo that I’d love to tell you about. So if you’ve got about 45 seconds settle in with your coffee and let’s have a chat!
We were brought into this project after Len Turi had much of the kitchen design in place and he was like do your thing and the client was like get crazy so alas, here we are. We had to solve for the design of the overhang and our inspo was really cool repurposed industrial event spaces like Armature Works. We found these amazing lights that looked like structural trusses. We then saw our clients car collection and iterated on custom designs for the range hood based on his vintage SS. You guys know I’m a huge fan-girl of porcelain so that Black Diamond slab was my first and last and only choice and also a giant pain in the ass because it broke on the way over, but the beauty of that is that we didn’t have to choose another slab! In the background, a sliver of Casino Royale from Artistic Tile , specified after the client said I want something crazy here just go for it. Pretty sure this is one of many things ordered without his approval and he just said I trust you, 🫶🏼. We shopped like desperate housewives two days before a stylized reveal to the client, buying subject matter re: all of his favorite things and I got a chance to bring in some incredible vintage and artisan pieces from our studio in 2 giant checked bags from Jersey. The client shared with us that he hated white walls so we went to find a cool texture paper and after over 300 yards of it we were able to cover every surface and hide his “least favorite thing in the world” lol.
I hope Instagram decides to show you this photo today. There’s so many layered nuances to it. One photo doesn’t deserve a typical algorithm treatment! I hope you enjoy this glimpse just as much as we did working on it.
