Homeowners that are building are left in the dark..
Hear me out..
You can hire a builder.
You can hire an architect.
You can even build a beautiful custom home.
And still end up wishing you had thought through things differently.
That was one of the biggest things I learned while building our home.
I had a builder. A very experienced one.
But there were still hundreds of decisions that only I could make because I was the one who knew how I wanted our family to live in the house.
✨Where I wanted outlets.
✨How I wanted the kitchen to function.
✨Where furniture would go.
✨How much storage we actually needed.
✨What I wanted the laundry room to function like.
✨How I wanted lighting to feel..
I realized pretty quickly that my builder’s job was to build the house.
My job was to make sure we were building the right house for us.
That meant I had to stop waiting for someone to ask me what I wanted and start learning what was coming next.
I started asking:
What are the next 10 things you’re going to need from me?
That one question changed the way I approached our entire build.
What I did do:
✨I studied the building process.
✨I stayed ahead of decisions.
✨I mentally lived in our floor plan.
✨I thought through how we would actually use the house — not just how I wanted it to look.
And years later, that preparation is one of the biggest reasons I still love the decisions we made.
I think homeowners sometimes get custom building wrong.
We think because we hired a great builder, someone else is going to make sure we’ve thought through every detail.
But your builder cannot know your routines, your family, your priorities, your style and the way you want to live in your home the way you do.
You don’t need to become a builder.
But you do need to become an informed homeowner.
That’s the difference! That is what changes the building process from stress and decision fatigue to enjoyable and loving your decisions!
And that’s exactly why I created Building With Intention.
Comment BUILD and I’ll send you the guide I wish someone had handed me before we started building.
