What does a preventative maintenance entail?

Professional Maintenance Schedule yearly service: Have a licensed technician perform an annual tune-up, ideally in the spring or fall before peak heating and cooling seasons.

Check refrigerant levels: Professionals must check for leaks and verify the proper charge.

Inspect electrical components: Experts test the wires, contactors, and run capacitors for safety and wear.

Test operational modes: The technician will verify the reversing valve, defrost cycle, and auxiliary heat strip functions.

Clean condensate drains: Clear indoor and outdoor drain pans and channels to prevent water damage or freezing clogs.

What are the benefits of doing an annual service?

Efficiency: heat pumps are based on air flow. If air flow is limited than the unit is working harder, causing excessive energy costs and more extreme wear and tear on your unit.

Air quality: a secondary benefit on a heat pump, is the dehumidification during cooling season. Your unit collects moisture from the air, and if left un serviced could grow into mold, mildew and fungus. During the heating season this could grow and blow into your living space.

Cleanliness: is your heat pump blowing foreign debris out into the room? Do you find specs of dust or discoloration on the exterior of your unit? A preventive maintenance will solve those issues.
