Everything in CEDAR is made to be left outside. Loose-fit joinery lets the wood move, stainless hardware keeps it together, and gaps let water leave. Left alone, cedar silvers in a season or two and then holds. These pieces are meant to look older than they are. Shown: CEDAR Reserve.

DUNE is our white, whitewash, and grey work: finishes that quiet the colour of the wood so the form reads first. A white finish shows every mark, so we work pigment into the open pores, cut it back, and seal it matte, so it stays soft and even and never looks painted on. STONE is all of our natural furniture. Nothing here is stained or toned. We choose the species for what it already does: hickory for its contrast, cherry for how it darkens, curly maple for the figure. Then we stay out of the way. A natural finish hides nothing, so the board has to be right before it is ever cut. Shown: STONE Boulder.

Every piece in DUSK is built ebonized or deep black. Ebonized is a reaction with the tannin already in the wood: we brew iron and vinegar for a fortnight, then flood the raw board, so the figure stays legible even at its darkest. Black is a separate job: an intense black oil, worked in by hand until the color is solid but the grain still reads through. Shown: DUSK Grand Pedestal.

Every piece in EMBER is Yakisugi. We char to a full alligator skin, brush most of it away, and oil what remains: a surface that sheds water and takes decades of hands without wearing thin. The char is not something we apply; it is the surface of the board itself.

SABLE is walnut, exclusively. Our walnut is kept stacked in sequence, the boards still in the order they were milled. When a table is ordered we lay the flitch out on the shop floor and read it before a single cut is made, so the figure carries across the joint instead of stopping at it. A hand-rubbed oil is all that goes over it. Shown: SABLE Convergence.

Most of the trees that come down in Michigan were never meant to be lumber. Some of the best of them should be. We build from salvaged and responsibly sourced hardwoods, dried slowly and kept in sequence, so every board is understood before it is touched. A tree built into a table a family keeps for generations keeps its carbon, too. That is the work ahead, under a new name.
