In my journey through my BFA Interior Design program, completing a year has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. The knowledge and skills I have gained so far have truly transformed the way I see the world, especially when I travel and attend design events.

Pursuing my passion for interior design through higher education has made a world of a difference in my life and abilities. The opportunity to immerse myself in the field, learn from experienced professionals, and explore new techniques has been invaluable. I am constantly inspired by the creativity and innovation around me, and I am excited to continue growing and evolving as an interior designer. The dedication and hard work I put into my studies are already paying off, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next.

Four years ago, while pursuing fashion design, I enrolled in a garment construction class because I wanted to expand my knowledge and skills in the field. The final project for the class was to sew a basic shift dress, and we were encouraged to add our own unique touch to it. I had the idea of adding fringe to the shoulders of the dress to make it stand out. I ended up getting an A for that assignment, and the teacher was really impressed with the design element.

Fast forward to today, that garment construction class was the true inspiration behind my love for designing with fringe. Many people have come to appreciate the fringe element in my decorative pillow designs, and it has become a signature element that will definitely stick around. The story behind it adds to its charm, and it’s an element that showcases my brand’s elegance and s***k.

As I sit back and reflect on my journey from the age of 17 to now, at 32, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride and contentment. Back then, I was full of ambition and dreams, trying my hand at various paths in the fashion industry. From styling to events to design, I explored it all. But it wasn’t until I discovered interior design that everything clicked into place.

Looking back, I realize that sometimes you have to dabble in different things before finding your true calling. And for me, that calling was interior design. It felt like a natural fit, a passion that I could build a successful business around.

So, to my younger self, I want to say thank you for being brave, for trying new things, and for never giving up on the search for what truly makes you happy. And to anyone out there still searching for their passion, just remember that it will come to you when the time is right. Trust in the journey and enjoy the process of discovering your true calling.
