💍 Our Marriage: A Journey of Grace and Growth 💍We Built With Intention
After we got married 13 years ago, I stepped into a life I had never lived before —
a wife, a stepmom, a partner learning her way through love.
I didn’t have a manual, only a heart that wanted our marriage to thrive.
So I searched, I studied, I tried…
and I loved in the ways I knew how.
I wrote little notes on our bedroom door each night,
so when he came home from his graveyard shift,
the first thing he’d see was love waiting for him.
I left messages on his coffee mug,
tiny reminders that he mattered,
that I was grateful,
that I chose him.
And he — he showed me what partnership looks like.
A kiss before work.
A call or message on every break.
Updates on where he was, what he was doing,
not out of obligation,
but out of respect…
out of care…
out of love.
When I started working, I followed his lead —
calling, messaging, keeping him posted.
That’s when I realized how beautiful it is
when two people choose to stay connected,
not because they have to,
but because they want to.
In our early marriage, we promised each other openness —
to talk things through before going to bed,
to consult each other,
to share decisions,
to express gratitude for the small and the big.
And we kept that promise.
Through stress, through trauma,
through the painful chapter with my previous employer,
through every storm we’ve walked through —
our marriage didn’t crumble.
It strengthened.
He defended me.
He fought for me.
He stood beside me.
He became the person I could talk to about anything.
We’re not overly religious,
but we have faith —
faith in God,
faith in each other,
faith in the quiet, steady love we’ve built.
A marriage like ours isn’t perfect,
but it’s intentional.
It’s learning.
It’s choosing each other,
again and again,
with gratitude, tenderness, and grace.
