After weeks of waiting, rain FINALLY fell on Pine Ridge Gardens this evening! Nearly 1.5”! The situation was getting quite desperate here. Hopefully, I’ll have time to get a few other things done tomorrow besides watering. I know y’all are probably wondering about the fall schedule! I’ll post it tomorrow. In the meantime, enjoy these photos: The sun poked out just long enough at the end and before setting to provide a beautiful rainbow over the nursery!

Thumb-size Cecropia Moth (𝘏𝘺𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘢 𝘤𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘢) caterpillar on Carolina Willow (𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘹 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢). The Cecropia Moth is the largest native moth in North America. The adults lack mouthparts and thus do not eat, so the caterpillars have to really fatten up to store up enough energy to get the adult through its up to two-week lifespan.
