Things are always changing around our showroom, but we give the space right inside the door a little extra attention. Good lighting, a mix of old and new, and a few pieces with personality go a long way. Even a small entry deserves some love.

I promise, buying a brass lamp does not mean you need to replace every silver thing in your house.

Same goes for wood. Your floors, dining table, and coffee table can all be different finishes. I actually prefer a little mix.

The part I pay attention to is how they sit together. Is everything warm except for one very gray wood? Is the chair too tiny next to the sofa? Sometimes that’s what feels off.

One minute it is light well past dinner. The next, you are looking out the window at 4pm wondering if it’s bedtime.

Welcome back, PNW fall!!

As much as I love cozy season, the darker months have a funny way of pointing out everything that is not working in your home.

The lighting suddenly feels harsh. Wet shoes are everywhere. Everyone is inside and, somehow, standing in the same three square feet. And the living room you barely thought about all summer now needs to feel good for a very long evening.

Creating a home that feels warm through fall and winter is not really about adding more seasonal decor. No shade to pumpkins! It is about good lighting, natural materials, practical storage, comfortable places to gather, and all the little details you may not see but definitely feel.

Our newest blog post is all about designing a home for early sunsets, busy kitchens, muddy shoes, quiet evenings, and real life happening inside it.
