Throwback Thursday! Here are some pics from The last few years. 180 year old pine up first, with the thumb of approval from the birthday boy. (he turned 6 today!) Next we have some gorgeous wide plank character white oak, and a natural maple kitchen in a beautiful home created by an amazing Japanese architect. Man, time flies!

Sneak peak of this beautiful floor that we did over the weekend. A little over 22 hours to demo existing hardwood, replace section of water damaged plywood, add new ½" plywood, then installed this gorgeous rift and quarter sawn white oak herringbone with maple walnut and mahogany border. Very pleased with the way this came out!!. Stay tuned for finished pics!!

Here we're doing a small repair on one of the bedroom floors in this historical Rocky River home. Sometimes the floors aren't in the best shape, when hardwood floors get very old the wood dries out and makes them extremely brittle, sometimes even soft. Once we apply the sealer and first coat of poly, we abrade with a 180 or 220 grit sandpaper to promote adhesion in the consecutive coats. The added moisture from the sealer and poly often brings out the loose sections of broken boards called wind shakes (if you didnt catch them in the refinishing process) in which case you need to stop the process and address them immediately. This particular area was completely hidden until our final buff so this is where the loba repair and fill kit comes in handy. Wax for the win!
