All the best tips from our Triple A Plumbing Pros in one place! When freezing weather hits, a little preparation goes a long way in preventing costly damage and keeping your home safe.

When Temperatures Drop:

🔴 Drip your faucets - Slightly turn on both the cold and warm sides of your faucets to keep water flowing at a thin trickle and avoid frozen pipes.

🔴 Locate your main water shutoff - If a pipe bursts or you notice a significant leak, knowing where to shut off your water is key. Look for the main shutoff valve on the perimeter of your home facing the street. It’s often near the city water main, which is inside a plastic box with a lid.

🔴 Remove Connected Water Hoses and Cover Hose Bibs - If you don’t have styrofoam covers, wrap the hose bib in a towel and secure it with tape.

🔴 Turn Off and Drain Lawn Sprinklers - If possible, drain your system to avoid freezing damage.

🔴 Protect Pool Equipment - Place a tarp or blankets over your pool equipment. The motor’s heat combined with insulation will help prevent freezing.

🔴 Keep Your Windshield Ice-Free – Use a piece of cardboard or your sunshade to cover your windshield, securing it with your wipers. This will save you time in the morning and keep your wipers in good condition.

🔴 Cover Outdoor Pipes - Can’t find pipe insulation? Old towels or blankets work great in a pinch! Wrap the exposed pipes and secure them for protection.

🔴 Think of Your Pets - Freezing temperatures can be dangerous for pets. Make sure they have a warm and safe space out of the elements.

Don’t Forget Your Neighbors! Check on elderly or disabled neighbors to ensure they’re safe and prepared for the cold weather. A quick visit could make all the difference.

Pesky drain lines! Drain clogs can happen at any moment. That’s why you need to have your ac system serviced yearly. We clear the drain lines and treat them with a cleaner. We recommend treating them at least 4 times a year with white vinegar if you are able to. This will help keep algae from forming and backing up the drain line!

A Triple Generation of Service

At Triple A Air Conditioning and Heating, great service runs in the family. Their legacy of skillful service has been earned and handed down over three generations. It started with Grandpa Neff in 1949, when he found he could fix anything he put his hands on. He passed those skills along to his son, Keith, who started in the truck as a young boy running tools. Keith spent much of his youth helping and serving his dad. He ran up and down the ladder to bring his father a crescent wrench more times than he cares to remember! Sometimes, he would find Grandpa still had the wrench in his back pocket.

The skills honed by Grandpa were passed down to Keith who went on to marry his high school sweetheart and, eventually, started his own business to carry out the family tradition. Soon Keith’s son, Dustin, was fetching the crescent wrench while dreaming of creating the family home services business of the future.

Today technology and advanced learning have been added to the treasured skills the Neff’s passed along to each other, but some things at Triple A Air Conditioning and Heating remain the same. They still look out for their customers like Grandpa did in 1949. Remnants of a happy youth spent helping their father are still evident in the Triple A office. Dustin’s G.I. Joes, and daughter Hanna’s treasured post-it notes to “Daddy” are still found in Keith’s desk drawer. And they still need a crescent wrench to do repairs.
