This page started as my art page and Twisted Acres is about twisting art and nature, and because of that here is an art piece our shop is donating to Arts for Act.
My favorite gallery in town recently reached out to our shop for a donation for their upcoming charity event on Oct 3rd at the Burroughs home. I couldn't deny them. The ladies I know that run and represent it are absolutely wonderful humans, the cause is great, so I welcomed the opportunity to create something unique for them. The theme is fun Peace, Love and Denim which inspired me to create this piece. That night feeling excited to get my hands in more paint I drove to a local thrift store. I expected it was gonna be hard to find a Jean jacket. Two mins in I found one jacket and it was perfect (the denim). Inspired by the recent mural at the shop I started designing the art for the jacket. As I was painting I imagined the event and thought well you can't just set this fun jacket on a table it needs an art piece to display it. (The heart). Cool jacket, fun art piece to hang it.....boring hanger...nope. To complete our donation piece I designed, cut and used epoxy to finish the hanger (Peace) complete with a sparkly ribbon.
I lined the inside of the jacket with fabric and one of my tshirt designs for the shop, including one of our Twisted Acres patches on the collar.
Might this be a prototype for more of these available in shop, possibly..... However if you love this piece and want to get your hands on it, attend Arts for Act charity event this Oct 3rd at the Burroughs home. Which is also a beautiful venue and where Anson and I got married 10 years ago this September.
If you haven't stopped into Arts for Act gallery it's a truly fun and unique space in downtown Fort Myers. The art they display is always fun and beautiful. The gallery space is chocked full of art, and the back features a funky thrift shop and each time you support them you help a great cause. I've shown my art there years ago many times and even won first place one year in an art contest.
