New sod and new beds need more water than the system's final schedule will ever give them.

For the first several weeks after install, every zone runs more often, for shorter stretches, to keep the root zone consistently moist while everything establishes. It's a different program than the one the system settles into later, and it's temporary on purpose.

We set that establishment schedule ourselves and dial it back as the material takes hold, so what's in the ground actually survives the transition instead of just surviving install day.

What happens when the landscape gets installed before the rest of the project catches up?

On expansion work, phasing rarely lines up perfectly. New beds and sod sometimes go in before a permanent water source is available where it's needed. That's where temporary irrigation comes in: a system built to keep new plant material alive and established during the gap, then tied into the permanent mainline once the rest of the build reaches that point.

It's not glamorous, but skipping it means asking brand-new plant material to survive on hope. We don't build it that way.

The one inspection most homeowners never think about.

Every irrigation system we install gets a backflow test before it's turned over. It's a small mechanical check with a simple job: make sure water from the yard can never siphon back into the drinking water supply. Texas requires it, and honestly, we'd do it even if the state didn't.

It takes minutes. Skipping it isn't worth the risk to your household's water.

This is what four months looks like.

Here's what nobody tells you on install day: a brand-new landscape does not look like the photo you fell in love with. It looks like small plants in a lot of mulch, spaced further apart than feels right. And that is exactly correct.

We space for the plant's mature size, not for how it photographs the afternoon we pull off the job. Crowd it now and in three years you're paying somebody to pull half of it back out.

It will look like this with four months of water, sun, and a little patience.

So if you're standing in a freshly installed yard right now wondering whether you made a mistake — you didn't. Give it a season. Breath and it will come!

Before a single plant goes in the ground, this happens.

Mainline gets trenched and run first. Then valves, grouped so beds and turf are on separate zones, because a rose bed and a St. Augustine lawn have never wanted the same amount of water. Heads get set, tested, and adjusted before anything green shows up on site.

It's the part of the job nobody photographs and everybody depends on. A landscape only looks effortless later because of what got buried first.

Every system we install is designed and installed in-house by a State of Texas Licensed Irrigator, not handed off to a sub.

Three systems, one front yard, and an order of operations you can't rearrange.

Irrigation goes in first — mainline, valves, heads zoned so the beds and the turf drink separately, because they've never needed the same amount of water and never will. And of course a touch of drainage.

Then the retaining wall. Natural stone, set course by course on compacted base, drainage gravel behind it, finished with a cut cap that gives you a clean top edge and, honestly, a pretty good place to sit.

Then, and only then, the plants.

Do it in any other order and you end up digging up work you already paid for.

Love it let us know and we can bring it to life in your yard, at your business, or for your church.

The whole build, start to finish, in 12 seconds.

This one started as bare dirt under a stand of hardwoods. A circular Pavestone patio cut and set, add a fire pit, add a border to lock in the space and you have a great gathering place for cool Texas nights from October to March.

The part the timelapse rushes past is the part that matters most — the base. Excavate, compact, screed the bedding sand, check it, check it again. That's what keeps a patio flat and tight ten years from now instead of two.

Now we just have to wait for those 60 degree nights to get here.
