Yesterday we had to remove two palms-- the one on the right was a casualty of lethal bronzing.

Lethal bronzing (LB) is carried by the palm cixiid which infects the sap of palms with phytoplasma that causes the sad and unstoppable death of the palm ☠️

Fortunately, if you have a palm that has NOT yet been infected we can prevent it from contracting LB by injecting the tree with an antibiotic called oxytetracycline-hydrochloride also known as OTC. This antibiotic should be re-applied every three to four months as a preventative until the threat has passed.

If you have declining palms and are concerned that they may have contracted LB please call us (352) 222 - 4202 so we can test them in conjunction with the UF IFAS plant pathology lab and help minimize the spread of lethal bronzing disease across the county.

This majestic Live oak (Quercus virginiana) has stood the test of time rooted in Alachua county. This storm season she developed a worrisome crack at the base of her trunk. We knew we needed to act fast and returned to help the tree as soon as we could.

Last week we removed thousand of pounds of wood and foliage to reduce leverage on the crack. The crew accessed the canopy using SRT climbing techniques and measured the tree for supplemental support.

We will be back when the materials arrive to add supplemental support to this gigantic tree. 🫶🏻🌳
