“Pumping away” with the whisper drive system.
Nothing is quieter than a Buderus triple pass boiler with a Riello burner. There is no other way to describe it short of closing the cabin door to an airplane when the cover slips onto the burner.
There’s more to building a great boiler system than just running some pipes making it look pretty’s and selling good equipment.
It’s keeping your order right and that’s exactly what we did here, there isn’t always room for the perfect build, but there was in this one.
We resigned the system from a push through to a pull through system, installed the air separator on the low pressure side of the pump which meant the pump had to be installed in a tough spot for service however the results would be worth the effort should one of these work horses actually stop working.
For serviceability on the control side, I added a pump fl**ge to each of the zone valves with brass pipe and a webstone pump fl**ge with shut off and purge station making the zone valve side accessible for service, while providing the highest quality valves and purge points with an easy to seperate fl**ge with replaceable gasket, it’s a very expensive item that replaced 4-5 components that are actually more expensive require more labor and have more potential fail points.
To top it off we installed Tacos’ new zone valve control board with post purge options available. The home owner previously had issues with their air handler running cold when the circulator abruptly stopped at the end of each call for heat. The trapped heat in the pipes tricks the aquastat into keeping the fan running long after it’s needed while also leaving excessive heat in the boiler where it’s wasted up the chimney and into the basement. Post purge keeps the circulator pump running and the valve open to the last zone calling for heat, which allows the air handler to draw the boiler down to 120° before shutting down further maximizing every available btu from the oil consumed as well as resolving the cold air issue at the end of each heating cycle. Creating solutions which also can maximize comfort.
