Baked Three-Cheese Ziti
# # Ingredients
- 450 g ziti pasta
- 700 g marinara sauce
- 250 g ricotta cheese
- 200 g shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 100 g grated Parmesan cheese, divided
- 1 large egg
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- Olive oil, for greasing the baking dish
# # Instructions
1. **Preheat the oven:** Heat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Lightly grease a large baking dish with olive oil.
2. **Cook the pasta:** Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the ziti for 2 minutes less than the package directions. Drain and set aside.
3. **Prepare the cheese mixture:** In a bowl, combine the ricotta, egg, half the Parmesan, half the mozzarella, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and parsley.
4. **Mix with sauce:** Toss the cooked ziti with about two-thirds of the marinara sauce. Fold in the ricotta mixture until evenly distributed.
5. **Assemble the casserole:** Spread a thin layer of the remaining marinara sauce across the bottom of the baking dish. Add the pasta mixture and spread evenly. Spoon the remaining sauce over the top.
6. **Add the cheese:** Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the pasta.
7. **Bake:** Cover loosely with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbling, and lightly golden.
8. **Rest and serve:** Let the ziti rest for 5–10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.
